For the Ladies in the NoVA area, our local store in Ashburn is doing a Disney class tomorrow night from 7-9pm, with a repeat on the 14th. It's $15. I am already signed up.

As a bonus, August is bring a friend for Free to the class. You have to give the name of the friend attending the time of registration.

Maybe I will see you there!!

Erika, let us know how it is. Maybe Maggie and I will go sometime. I've never been to a class there.

Yep, it's the one in the Broadlands. I don't remember exactly what was being covered, but I remember something about a Mickey balloon and a castle. I'll update the boards on Wednesday morning.

Aww... man... too bad I'm scheduled to work my shift at Disney tomorrow night...

So, where is this scrapbook store in Ashburn? I live just off of Waxpool (and am relatively unfamiliar with most of the area that's not between Waxpool & Ryan Road - Rt 28 & the Dulles town center)

I didn't even know there were scrapbook shops in the area.

the ashburn store is in the broadlands shopping center right down from the safeway, I come out of ashburn village and turn right on farmwell rd, go up to the 3rd stoplight which is clairborne (sp?) parkway and hang a left, once you pass the entrance to the greenway it's the next left (don't know the road name) but the shpping center is on the left, blockbusters is the most visable before you turn onto the street.

memories is the other ashburn/sterling scrapbook store and it's basically across from the dulles town center. It's in the same plaza that dicks sporting goods and scan furniture is in, kind of right across the parking lot.

then there are 2 more that I like a lot as well, the chantilly one (go down 28 to 50 going east and it's in the baby's r us shopping center which is on the right hand side, there is also a lowe's in the same place) It's called scrapbooks plus

Then there is the fairfax store, my scrapbook store, love them, they are really very nice, have cool stuff and there is an AC Moore right down the block from them. (that one is a little more complicated to explain directions to, check the website www.myscrapbookstore.com)

out of all of them, I prefer the last 3 and tend to shop at them the most. maggie

Oo... maggie... You may have just dealt a fatal blow to my wallet :) Now instead of spending all my money at disneystore.com (had to buy the patio furniture) I'll be spending it at a pile of scrapbook stores...

PammyJo, I replied to your PM :) Thanks for sending it.

The Broadlands/Ashburn store is on Broadlands Blvd & Claiborne Pky. (Be careful at the intersection there) They also have a website. The owner has added a lot of stuff lately. The last time I went in, they didnt have a whole lot. I am very impressed now. If I didn't want to haul all of my stuff around, I would consider her Friday night crops, especially since it's right around the corner from my house. :)

Scrapbooks Plus is now on the other side of K-Mart, the next building over. They have plenty of room now for everything and have got some new stuff in too. I work close to this store, so I quite frequently run over at lunch. Here's their website

HAPPY SHOPPING!!!

I saw in the paper that they (Broadlands store) is supposed to be having a sidewalk sale the weekend of the14th/15th. and I think, one other weekend, but can't remember if it was this weekend or the 21st/22nd. I have family in town through this weekend so I only committed next weekend to memory. Still haven't been out there to check that store out though...

Erikalk -- did you see anything about the sidewalk sale?

Yep, the owner was telling all of the students about the sale. Mentioning that if you want something, you better come early. Also, if you need some of the big ticket items, to get those, since it's the best deal. Supposed to be 50% on items displayed outside and 30% of everything inside. Sale actually starts on Fridays. Also, according to their website, the sale ends at 3pm each day.
From the website:

how was the disney class? maggie

The class was good. This was my 1st scrapbooking class.

We did the two-toned mickey balloon 2 page layout. A two page castle page, where we did die-cut enhancement using a different color die-cut, and cut out pieces and overlayed them on the castle. We put 3 small 'house' die-cuts on each side of the castle, with the title of Main Street USA. We did a movie strip like border using black and white cardstock, putting a mickey balloon eyelet in the last spot on one of the borders, I did the text 'Disney World'. Lastly, we attempted to do a paper piecing of Pooh. The instructor forgot the pattern, so we tried to use photocopies and lightboxes to try and trace the pattern. Didn't work too well. We can email her to get the patterns and try again.

They still have plenty of room for the class on the 14th, if anyone was interested.
