Just listening to the e-mail podcast and I can SO relate to how Disney can be far cheaper than a lot of vacations, including the Jersey shore, LOL.

We live in PA, and have visited Disney often in the past years. I just had to write when I heard this statement. :) Me, my wife, DD and DS are heading down in June for 9 days, staying at CSR, dining included, for under $2500. That same trip, staying at something above a roach motel in Jersey, would run us upwards of 3K- EASILY. Heck, the average non-roach accomidations are $250+ per night, not to mention $50 per meal for pizza and hot dogs. Oh, and don't even get me started on the cost of the rides on the boardwalk, LOL.

Anywho, just had to post that, and say I'm glad I'm not the only one who convinces myself this way. :lmao:

I totally agree with this statement too!! We are from Delaware and vacation in Ocean City MD just across the bay from the Jersey Shore and any decent rental will run you $3K. That is just a room. Not food or entertainment. I just booked the GF for less than that with food and park tickets. Heck my nephew paid 3600 for a 3BDR condo last year for a week. I know I am going to Disney for that cost.:rotfl:

$3,600 for the condo for a WEEK?!?! :scared1:

YES is that insane or what!!!! I dont care how many families split that no way am I cramming my family into a bedroom sharing a kitchen and all the family antics that go with it to spend time at the beach together. No Way. I am visiting the mouse for that cost; I can get some pretty darn nice accomadations, food and tickets to the parks. No brainer here.

yes, Its crazy and so true . I was cracking up listing to it. I live in NJ and don't bother with the Jersey shore, unless its a trip to Atlantic City.

We were actually thinking about a week in the Outer Banks this summer and my disney trip is coming out cheaper.

I live ON the Jersey Shore and 100% agree. I was cracking up when Pete mentioned this. I always love hearing his Jerzy references! :)

We totally agree. Well, actually we never looked at the Jersey shore, but I know what you mean.

We were looking at going to DC for our anniversary. Just a long weekend trip. In past years, we've been able to catch a cheap flight to DC and the weekend hotel rates weren't bad. But for some reason this year I couldn't find a really good deal on flights. Once I figured out how much the flight and hotel was going to cost us for DC I decided to check fights to Orlando instead. Since we have AP's and are DVC members, it worked out "cheaper" to go to WDW than DC - so, we'll be making three trips to WDW in the next three months. Who's complaining? Not us!

15 years ago when I lived in South Jersey(Salem County). I would here you going to Disney again. The shore is cheaper. I challenged them and they would low ball all cost and could not match Disney. LOL. The same folks would go to the shore for 2 weeks and go 3 or 4 weekends every year, yet going to Disney once a year was different. LOL

I have tried to tell my MIL for years that we can go to Disney cheaper than the beach. She yells at us for "wasting" money on a Disney vacation. We could just go to the beach. (We live in NC) When you price a decent room at the beach, eating out and entertainment - the price of going to Disney for the same number of days is less. Depending on the special, maybe a tiny bit, or in the case of this year over a thousand dollars less. Add the fact that the three of us (huband, daughter and I) are all complete Disney nuts, I see this as the best value and trip for us. To bad she just doesn't 'get it'!!!

I agree with all of you. I thought my wife was nuts when she first told me this. About Wildwood NJ being more money then Disney.

For some reason, I am remembering he mentioned the town before and I knew it was near me, but I can't recall it right now.
