We are wondering if the people who walk out with the charectors also play that chatector. We were eating at a charector lunch once and first noticed the man walking with Donald was also short and stocky thinking that he kind of walked lake Donald and then noticed the girl walking with goofy was tall and very slim. And at one point did some movements that goofy was making at the same points. We also noticed Minnie walker was of same height. I know the people who play chaeecter are the biggest secrets, but could this be true. There must be doubles, could their walkers or leaders be them.

Typically the character wranglers are different from the friends of the characters. Not to say they couldn't be the same, but that really doesn't happen. There's a lot of difference between the two skill sets.

Character attendants rarely are characters themselves but it does happen. After several years with the company a friend of mine now is a character performer, attendant, and parade float driver. He has to be actually coded for only one of those positions but has proficiency in the other 2 meaning he can do them when needed or scheduled. They are all entertainment roles so it is not unheard of to be cross trained but they don't hire character performers or parade float drivers or performers with the idea they will be cross trained. It usually happens after a CM shows a want to do more than one role.

Now on the cruise line almost all character performers are cross trained at attendants or at least they also are in the stage shows at night. Not enough space to have crew members who only do 1 thing.

Of course there are, there has to be. If the parks are open from say, 8am to 8pm-10pm (and even later in summer) 7 days a week, 365 days a year, there couldn't possibly be one person for each character.
However, the handlers are working at the same time as the friend of the character, so unless they're doing a quick costume change backstage, that could be a very long day to do both handling and being a friend of a character.
