it did drip a few sprinkles of rain this afternoon and then a brief rain at the end.. UMBRELLAS are not allowed. Someone mentioned bringing.-
as for the grass, only a small area is open. The area by the flags is NOT open like last year, so viewing the 1 game they did today you couldn't see it in its entirety. But you could see who would win each of the 2 "heats".
My take on the day- (we went to all 3 DCG tapings last year)
If you want to watch the games, it will be a disappointment. If you enjoy waiting around to see the stars & getting autographs- that should happen! Just trying to figure out which spot they will pick can make it fun (adult perspective). If any of the Jonas bros are in view-you'll know!
We didn't arrive until shortly after 1. When I saw people leaving already, my expectations were lowered. We took the camera and 1 of the drink bottles back to the truck after being warned before the security check. We were told only 1 bottle could be taken in and it had to opened.. not a biggie as I was already planning on purchasing the souvenir cups.
We didn't see any cameras taken, but a security person threatened to have one lady escorted out. They actually had a small yelling match going on after that time.
I didn't think it was crowded at all. The games are extremely obstructed- may be 1 or 2 may be visible from the 1st base side of the stadium, but binoculars would be needed. My kids had a blast getting autographs once the stars were able to "interact".
As for the DC stars, Alyson Stoner gets an A+. She approached the dugout with someone else and thought they couldn't give autographs, but the person with her was given an ok so she started signing- and kept going until she "had" to leave and promised to come back. She did, and once again just kept signing and getting her pic taken (with camera phones)!
And my kids did ask to go back this week- even though they got many autographs today (I'm sure they will get more Saturday at the concert).

where was everyone standing today who got autographs and pictures? (and how did you manage to sneak your cameras in? haha)

i could have sworn i saw miley today when the stars first came out around 12 when they walked and were in the dugout for the longest time. there was a girl walking in the back with mitchel musso wearing a big hat. maybe it wasnt her? lol i was wondering why jonas were getting louder screams than her..

sounds pretty much how it went last year for the tapings. (hurry up and wait)
You must've just missed them! We saw them come off of the field for lunch.
(at least that is what was being said, I thought it was kind of late)
While we waited patiently- Chris Massey walked through and my ds got his autograph. I guess not many recognized him as he wasn't escorted and didn't get mobbed.
The game-
I called it the chariot race, no clue what the real title is! It appeared each team had to "build" a chariot and then 2 stars pulled it while the rest of the team got to ride. Each team had a group of "cheerleaders" which I don't recall anyone mentioning. I guess my kids heard that they were "look a likes" for the DCG stars(??). I thought, that of the 4 groups, only 2 knew how to cheer
I want to say from last year we only saw 1 or maybe 2 at the most games taped in a day, but we usually left by 2:30.
yes, late afternoon seemed to be the best time for autographs Monday. As we were leaving Adrienne(Cheetah girls) was walking through, a few approached her for autographs but were denied by someone escorting her(they did say say sorry-something to the effect of her not having time). Next group, same thing and then someone did get either a pic or autograph and she was off, DS tried to run back..

I wasn't there last year, I can't compare.

I just know my kids had a blast yesterday.

I emailed Disney to thank them. They don't HAVE to open this to the public at all. If people complain, they won't.

My DD got Nick Jonas' autograph. She touched his hand while she handed him her Sharpie. She may never wash that hand again.

THERE WAS GO INTERACTION AT THE GAMES AT ALL THIS YEAR SO THERE WAS NO BONUS THIS YEAR. THEY DID EVERTHING TO STOP FAN FROM GET CLOSE TO THE STARS THEY BUILD A WALL AT THE TOP BY THE TENTS THEY DID EVRTHING TO KEEP THE FANS AWAY SO WHY SAY IT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
THE GAMES THIS YEAR WERE VERY SAD FOR THE FANS WHO MAKE THEM THE STARS THEY ARE. SO YOU NEED TO COMPLAIN TO MAKE CHANCE YOU NEED TO SHOW THEM WERE THEY WENT WRONG WITH THE FANS.

He wasn't super friendly, sort of hid from my DD and her friends. My DD's friend has a big mouth and she saw him and screamed "OMG It's Cody Linley!" A big scream came from the crowd and he hid! Can't really say I blame him. LOL

I'm 15 years old, honor roll student, the kind of girl that is really good with other people of all ages. Literally, Disney controlls my life. I am a die hard Disney Channel fan, and have been for about 6 years (before that I wasn't allowed to watch TV, so I watched all the disney movies on vhs). So basically I'm a good kid that has been 100% molded by Disney. I will always have an optimistic attitude...so thats kind of a warning to you.

if you are bringing small children, be sure to keep a close watch on them, there may be bigger, meaner kids there that will trample them, which is never good. I'm not trying to be harsh, just simply help you out.

pre-teens and other teenagers, NOBODY will like you if you are mean to other fans, so be nice.

everybody, we should just be happy that Disney is letting us come at all.

Just be grateful that you're able to go at all. They could have charged for the concert but they didn't so just enjoy the experience through your kids eyes and don't over analizr things. Remember you're attitude will reflect on your kids attitude.
I understand that some of you have planned a trip around these events and you have spent alot of money. Nothing you can do about it now so just try and relax and have a good time!
On the other hand, does anyone know if you can bring binoculars to the tapings, we are going after school today and the kids think it's a good idea.

there wasn't a lot going on in the field. The stars were being taken to various tents to do interviews. They were doing photo shoots in the outfield, one at a time.

I'm going to try to go over after my DD gets out of school, BUT my younger DD - who was puking yesterday, now has a temp of 103. I'm taking her to the doc to check for strep (she pukes when she gets strep). I guess the outcome of her doctor appointment will determine whether or not I head over this afternoon. Sighhhhhh....

I was just coming to ask that - I am assuming that since Jonas Brothers and Cheetah Girls all seem to be present for the games that they are going to perform. I keep thinking since Selena Gomez does a few Disney songs maybe she will perform as well.
