I seem to remember that last year? Target ran something over Thanksgiving where the Disney cards were discounted (beyond the usual 5% using the Target card). Maybe it was buy $100 worth of Disney cards, get a $5 target gift card which you could then use to buy more Disney cards? They did this as well in 2014 because of their data breach? Am I remembering this correctly? Need to know for a PIF date. Thanks!!!

I wouldn't count on it. But it could happen. Target has been tightening up their rewards program, you can no longer purchase Disney gift cards online with a Target card and still get the 5% off (because your default payment on your account is your Target Red Card).

If I'm remembering correctly, last year, you had to purchase the Target cards (at a discount) on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and you could only get like 3 of them. And I think they (the Target cards) were only good for a day or two following that Friday.

There were two different scenarios last year.

One was that they were running promotions on certain gift cards where if you purchased two you got a $5 target gift card.

The other one was a 10% discount on Target Gift cards. It was a max of $300 per transaction. You could only apply the offer once per each Target.com account. However, you could make multiple trips to a Target store to buy them. They were not activated until the next day and there was not expiration date as to when you had to use them. You could also buy cards in any denomination you wanted as long as the total didn't go over $300. This year it is happening on December 4th.

Also want to add.....

You cannot purchase Disney gift cards with Target gift cards online any longer. If you attempt to purchase a Disney gift it will go through, but immediately be cancelled. It doesn't matter if you purchase other items along with the Disney gift card. It will be cancelled. This was changed in August. You can still use target gift cards to purchase disney gift cards in the stores, but you will not receive a discount. You can also still purchase Disney gift cards with your Target RedCard in store and online and receive the 5% discount.

Here's a link to Target's corporate announcement that includes mention of the December 4th target card discount.

Relevant quote "on Dec. 4, guests will save 10 percent on Target GiftCards"

Definitely plan to stock up in advance of our cruise on the 10th this year and possibly for a future Disney trip too.

I remember taking advantage of the $5 discount when purchasing two disney gift cards last year. I think it was the $50 gift cards that it was on. Will definitely keep my eyes peeled for that one too.

Last year the $5 discount worked on the $25 Disney gift cards as well. I made multiple trips as stores had very little $25 cards
