Disney Calories

I was just going to recommend the site Disneychrista posted a link to. I don't know if they have any WW pts for Disney food but, it's a great site with tons of info. and inspiration.

By the time your trip rolls around you should have a pretty good handle on your WW program. One trip to WDW while I was doing WW I actually lost weight. I pretty much ate what I wanted but, shared meals with my DS.

Congrats on your weight loss so far! You can do it!

I have been to WDW on WW and have not gained any weight for stays of 8 days. The way I have handled it is to eat a nice size breakfast that included fruit, lots of water and not too much fat. I had bacon 2x and even had the famous Tonga Toast at the Kona. Then a light lunch, 1/2 of a sandwhich from one of the counter sevices, an ice, small ice cream, popcorn or pretzel and again lots of water. Then an early dinner, again sharing an entree if possible, eating salad and fruit at a buffet and finally some type of dessert around 8pm (unless we had a buffet dinner). I also find it really hard to get back on plan once I get and find that the sooner I start back, like the very morning I reurn home, watching points and execising the better off I am. Good luck and have a great trip! Hope to see you on the WISH boards!

As far as the calorie counting and relying on books, I took a little offense to your comment. I'm sure you didn't mean it harshly, I just struggle at first and I was proud that I was doing so well and then to see that upset me a little. I'm doing it the only way I know how for right now. What you said did make sense, but I have to start out that way to get myself in the groove, and then after about a month I can make wise choices without relying on books, journals, etc... Thanks so much for the tips. They were VERY good and I'm sure I'll do fine once I get there.

I think you COMPLETELY misunderstood what I was saying. For sure, if you are starting on your weight loss journey, count calories, use books, and journal journal journal. Heck, those tools are great for keeping yourself accountable at ANY stage of your weight loss journey, and you're right... it is a lot to take in and they are very valuable, and yes you should be proud of yourself for doing so well!

BUT there will be times in your life when you cannot use them and the sooner you learn how to deal with those, the better off you will be. From listening to people who have not only lost weight but managed to maintain that weight loss for a very long time, they do it by not only using the tools available to them but also learning the lessons behind those tools so that they can make smart decisions when those tools are not available to them.

I guess what I am saying is that going to WDW and practicing "eating healthy and watching portions" without obsessing over every calorie will be good practice for the rest of your life. Not everything you will ever eat will show up in a WW food list so the sooner you learn to be confident in making healthy choices on your own, the better off you will be. You may choose to journal forever but in my experience, many people stop after they are in maintenance and the people who tend to keep their weight off are those who learn the lessons that WW tries to teach about what are normal portions and what are healthy choices to make. Sort of like changing your mindset about how to eat and "eating like a thin person."

Thanks- I tend to be overly sensitive sometimes ;) Especially when it comes to matters of weight. No worries, and THANKS for the advice, you make VERY valid points :)
