Disney buys Lucas Films!!!!!!

I think they could revive the series doing Jedi Academy and play off of a Harry potter type theme.

I have to say if they open a Star Wars park they could charge double what they do to get into Disney and I guarantee people would pay it.

This in no way kills Avatar land, it assures it. One of the main benefits of this purchase is not Star Wars per se but the acquisition of Industrial Light and Magic, the computer special effects group of Lucasfilm, which did the Avatar special effects and will do so for the future Avatar movies, as it has done for the Star Wars movies, Transformer movies, the Harry Potter movies, Hunger Games, the Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and even the last Star Trek movie. Somebody may raise whether this acquisition creates antitrust problems in the movie/entertainment industry.

Thats great to hear! I hope both projects, "Avatarland" at AK and a possible Star Wars expansion at DHS are great successes. Along with FL expansion and planned US/IOA expansions it will make for a lot of things to look forward to as DVC members. I wouldn't doubt SWW will be something special in 2013.

The 5th gate ?!?!?

I hope not. 3 of the 4 WDW parks are in need of investment now. And there's no magical solution to the Florida labor market...if Disney had to hire another 5,000+ workers to staff a 5th park, they would simply be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Again (further.)

Transportation is already an issue. The bus fleet would have to grow by roughly 25% to service another destination. That means more traffic congestion around WDW.

As appealing as a 5th park may sound, it creates more problems than it solves.

$1 Billion spent on a new park would barely get you clear land, utility lines, parking and some infrastructure. They would burn through that money before building a single attraction.

Now imagine how far $1 billion could go at Hollywood Studios...

I am terribly excited about this!

I agree with dumping Avatar and going with Star Wars now that they own it. Star Wars is far more popular than the controversial Avatar anyway.

Could not agree more.

Geeking out here, but I'd rather have Aunt Beru's blue milk, than blue aliens.
Our next DVC trip is at the VGC in Feb. I'll have to stock some blue milk in the fridge...does that mean I have to drink skim???
