I know most people have asked this before, but I really want your honest opinions about the Disney buses? Is a rental car better? Its just me and my DFI. I have never used any Disney convinces aside from the monorail the first day we got to Disney when I was 10-just so we could say we went on it...and I believe we took the boat into the MK the first day as well, but that's all I got for transportation. We will be staying at POP...if that makes a difference.

I know most people have asked this before...

Yes.

And we are no closer to "the right answer" than when the question was first asked.

There is the one camp that says, DRIVE,
and the other that says, BUS.

I will say that MK is the one park with the "unique" situation of guests who drive must ALSO take a monorail or ferry boat between MK and the MK parking lot.
Resort Guests taking Disney Transportation are driven to/from the MK front gate area.

We've been once, and it was the first week of February, which is a light time of year. The busses got us everywhere we wanted to go, no problems. If you're staying on-property the whole trip and have no need to leave, you'll be find. If you go at a crowded time of year, expect to wait for the bus, but it beats stressing about driving in traffic, finding a place to park, etc.

That ought to get you started. ;)

It depends on what your plans are.

Do you plan to go to restaurants at other resorts?

Do you need to get groceries at the store?

If you're going to just go between POP and the resorts, I'd use buses.

Getting from resort to resort is a big pain.

We have gone to WDW and strictly used the buses and it was fine because all we did was parks. We have also gone and rented a car but we also went to some outlet malls and had meals outside of Disney. I guess it depends on what you will be doing. We book a car if we get a decent price and if not then we are okay with using disney transportation but overall we find a car to be much more convenient.

First let me say that we've always done disney transportation, so I'm a little biased, I'm sure. Part of what I like about not renting a car is that we don't have to worry about driving, parking, speeding ect. We're basically taken care of the whole time we're there. We've always had a stroller and little ones when we've gone, and sometimes that can be a little tricky with the buses, but if it's just adults going, I wouldn't even think about renting a car, unless you're planning on traveling off site to see other things.

I love Disney buses, I personally do not want to drive on highway after parks, I am tired and sleepy. I love the idea that someone drives while I am sitting and relaxing. I do not mind waiting in line a bit in the evening and there is almost no waiting during the day when you go to parks. I also would not want to walk extra distance from parking lot to parks and back, you cannot park as close as bus stops. That is my honest opinion.

I'm going to move this over to the transportation board for you.

I am on the Disney transport side also!! We park hop a lot and we eat at other resorts alot. It works for us!! We can enjoy adult beverages at dinner, we don't have to spend our gas money to get around, we don't have to worry about traffic with lots of buses and vacationers that don't exactly know where they are going, etc. etc.

Yeah it takes a bit longer, but for us it's fine!!

(We are most definitely no longer park commandos!! Our typical day is take a bus to a park, then walk, boat, or monorail to another resort for breakfast, then stroll that resort for awhile, then back to the park, maybe do one or two attractions, then back to our resort to chill for most of the day, then later that evening, bus again to a park, maybe do one or two attractions, then go have dinner somewhere, THEN go to the evening EMH park of choice and close the park down. Then we sit IN the park till they practically kick us out, then go to a waiting usually very empty bus and go to bed.)

Even when we drive the camper down, we take the truck to the front parking lot and don't see it again till time to hitch up and go home!!

We love using a car! Outlets, groceries, not wasting 20 hours of our 10 day vacation waiting for or riding buses... the list goes on.

It will all boil down to how you wish to spend your time. I don't drink enough at WDW that needing to be driven becomes an issue, but if I had to ride the buses all week, that would certainly drive me to drink.... :lmao:
