Disney Buses, good or bad?

Just a couple of observations on the busses. It might be wiser to drive to Downtown Disney unless you are staying at Port Orleans (Riverside or Port Orleans), in which case there is a boat going your way, which I think is a better option than waiting for a bus.

But staying at Port Orleans has a downside too, as far as the busses go. At every park, the PO bus stop (loading and unloading) is located as far away from the park gate as possible, always being the furtherst dock in the bus loading area.

We have always had great experiences with the bus system. We've never used anything else.

I do think there is difference though between which resort you stay at. Not because of the how the buses run but by how many people they have carry.

We stay at Old Key West almost every time and I am always grateful of where we are staying when I am getting on my bus and there is room to sit and I look over at the value resorts and they are packed to the gills. Again, the buses run just as frequently and are just as efficient but there are always more than double the number of people trying to get onto those buses.

I would never use any other transportation within Disney and actually look forward to the bus ride as it is part of our overall experience!

I didn't see an answer to your question, but if it has been answered I apologize. The only bus I have ever been able to take from one park to another is between DHS & EPCOT. Other than that bus, I am not aware of any buses that run from park to park. All run between park and resort or DTD or TTC.

We have taken the bus from Animal Kingdom to other parks.

There were buses from park to park when we were there. You could take a bus from any park to any park, except between MK and Epcot, but that is because of the monorail.

I'm curious where you are getting your information for your blog you are hoping to help people with, because as I bolded above, you are giving out FALSE information.

At least for parks that offer early morning character breakfast ADRs, buses start running well before one hour prior to park opening.

But your most glaring error is that buses from resorts DO NOT go to the TTC. Period. You are going to disappoint and anger people and waste their precious vacation time if you "inform" them that they can take a bus from their resort to the TTC to then transfer to wherever they want to go.

The only Disney Transport buses that serve TTC are buses to/from DHS and buses to/from AK.

The above is a matter of fact. Now, for one opinion .... DTD is usually an inefficient place to use as a transportation hub. The only time this should be advised is late at night if other more convenient parks are closed. During normal park operating hours, someone needing to transfer buses should tae a bus to the theme park (or DTD) that makes the best geographical sense to use as a transfer point. For example, if you are staying at CSR and need to get to WL for a dinner ADR, transfering at DTD would be much less efficient than transfering at MK.

let's not let the facts confuse a great story.

I usually stay at the shades of green and thought they are not run by disney those buses go to ttc then monorail to mk or epct, they also have a bus that goes to DS and water parks you have to check schedule for times. But these buses do not go directly to mk or epcot as others from other resorts do. Iam thinking of staying at bcv this time since i am dvc member. Does anyone know who bcv shares bus with? i know cs and akv do not share with anyone. :surfweb: :confused3 :3dglasses

The bus transportation is one of the primary reasons I stay on site. I don't know of many other vacations where I do not have to incur the expense of a rental car, but Disney makes it easy not to.

We loved it. We live in a city area and driving can be stressful. It was so nice waking up and walking over to the buss stop. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. We would talk to other people in line which is always interesting.
At the end of the day your tired and it is nice knowing you dont thave to drive.

I've only had to take the bus once since I've started going to WDW as a baby (we went from DHS to Epcot.) That was my last time, if I can help it. I didn't enjoy waiting for the bus, and once I finally got on it was too crowded to feel comfortable.
