Disney Burger King Cups

I was sorting through my Disney storage this past weekend when I found these Burger King cups from 1994 that I forgot I even had. I was looking at them all, when I noticed that

1. The boxes say collect all 8…but I have 9 different cups (not including the 4 Pocahontas cups from 1995)

2. Two of the boxes show cup #3 as The Little Mermaid and cup #7 as 101 Dalmatians, while the rest have #3 as The Lion King and #7 as Dumbo.

I have The Lion King and Dumbo as well as The Little Mermaid, but no 101 Dalmatians. So I did some googling to find the 101 Dalmatians cup, and found out that The Little Mermaid was replace by The Lion King and was never released, so I’m assuming 101 Dalmatians was replaced by Dumbo. I couldn’t find any info on the 101 Dalmatians cup though.

So I have two questions that I’m hoping someone here might know the answers to.

1. How are there Little Mermaid Glasses from the collection that some people have, if they were never released?

2. Has anyone ever seen a physical 101 Dalmatians cup from this collection?


I wasn’t aware until today that The Little Mermaid cup wasn’t part of the released collection. I purchased the set, along with the four Pocahontas cups from an estate sale about 15 years ago, but I guess I didn’t pay much attention to the boxes at the time.

They were marketed as glasses, but they're actually plastic tumblers, unfortunately. They're still nice looking, but glass would have been better.

I'm wondering if it's the same set I have. They were in cardboard boxes, with the sides punched out so that you could see the tumbler.

They're pretty popular, you can find various full sets on Ebay. In searching I have found a few of The Little Mermaid one, but the prices are a bit outrageous. I'm so curious if there was ever a physical 101 Dalmatians cup though. I'm guessing there wasn't because I've been coming up with dead ends in all of my searches.

It was never released, that's why I'm curious as to how some of them exist. When I get home I'll take a pic and upload it.

Sometimes prototypes are made and find their way into the hands of collectors. Other times, they'll release one in Spanish but not English, and so they are not as common in most areas. Those are the only two reasons I can think of, although I'm sure I am missing a few.

The only one that is currently available for sale that I can find is this Spanish one on eBay. It's also out of the box.

I have all of them including the little mermaid one. I’m still in hopes to get one of the 101 Dalmatians one but no luck! I paid $250 for the little mermaid one only because the lady selling it was a Burger King manager and I’m thinking maybe that’s how she got her hands on one.

My mom has this same set of Disney Burger King cups and I don't even recall a The Little Mermaid cup in the set. It might be a rare cup in my eyes. Mom got most of those cups from Dad because when I was a kid my father did pest control for Burger King and that's how Mom and I got these cups
