Disney Brides would you be offended...

I would love to get married at Disney, but I just can't afford it so my fiance and I will be getting married in a nearby chapel, but we will be having our reception dinner at Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We will be staying at the Contemporary before and after the wedding and I would really like to wear my gown. Can I do this or will "real" Disney brides and the people who work at Disney be offended or worse...not allow it.

I'm not sure but I do know Disney is very stict on where you can not where your dress. If you are a Disney bride then you can wear your dress but you may have to call and find out since you are not. I wouldnt want you to show up and have any problems.

I personally would not be offended at all. It is your special day and besides, other brides wouldn't be able to tell if you were a Disney bride or not without talking to you. If Disney says yes, then I would say to go ahead!

I wouldn't be offended if I saw another bride on my day or trip... I'd think she had good taste (same day, location, etc) -- and I don't think I'd know if she was married on site or not.

Hmmmm...good question. We are also getting married at a nearby chapel due to the cost and I was told that we can't wear our wedding attire into the parks. However, we're only wearing shorts and t-shirts, but I would call FTW department of disney and ask them.

Thanks, ladies. We will be checking in on a Saturday in the Contemporary and getting married on Monday at the chapel, so I will be seen wearing the gown as I exit the hotel en route to the outside chapel. My fiance (well then he will be my DH) and I were going to have our dinner in the CG in the Contemporary, but this Philly gal (now living in KS) cannot seem to get into the food that I've seen on the menu. I don't need to see the fireworks at MK from CG considering in all probability I would have seen them from my balcony during my stay. I will call DFTW and see. I am not going into the parks just into a hotel so we will see. Maybe I should have my dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I'll call...thanks again.

By the way...this will be my family's first trip to DW ever and we are so excited so look for me on other boards asking questions.

We are in the same situation...getting married at Leu Gardens , staying at POR, eating dinner at the chef's table at V&A's . The kind people at V&A's know that we will be in our weding attire, and have not said that we couldn't eat dinner in our tux and gown. I am also having Disney Cosmo do my hair and makeup since we're staying onsite. Randy Chapman is going to take pictures of us at the Grand Floridian going to our "reception". The pastry chef at the GF is making a small cake for us . So, as you can see, Disney is being very accomadating for us. They did tell me that we wouldn't be allowed to go to the parks, and could only take photos inside the GF if a Disney Bride was not there. Good luck with your decision on where to eat...there are so many wonderful choices amongst the resorts.

I don't know if I would bother to call Disney...you may get a different answer depending on who you talk to. We renewed our vows off-site at Leu Gardens in April, so obviously we didn't even have a FTW and I wore my gown to both lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe and dinner at Citrico's. In fact, I wore it all day at the resort and we took our own pics around the resort. Nobody said a word. We were guests at the Grand Floridian so I don't know if that made a difference. Can't see how, though, because nobody asked where we were staying.
Rich at the GF bakery made us a wonderful wedding cake. Disney cosmetology did my hair and make-up(Rex) and Randy Chapman did the photography. The manager of Citrico's personalized our menus with our names, anniversary date(we renewed our vows on our 16th anniversary) and a photo.
In fact, one of the ladies in the concierge told us to head over to the Wedding Pavilion to take some photos in the outside garden if we wanted. I told her that our wedding was not thru FTW and she said that as long as there was not another wedding taking place at that time we, as guests of the hotel, could certainly take pictures anywhere on property. We did not though, felt a little weird as we did not renew our vows there....

We never saw another bride that day @ GF and I did not see one the entire 4 days we were there. On the other hand, last May at the Polynesian, we witnessed at least 3 weddings a day for 5 days from our room in Hawaii.

LittleBlackRainCloud....We were thinking about Leu Gardens for a possible site, too so congrats to you for choosing that. I am glad that there is someone else in a similar situation to mine. I was also happy to read that Randy Chapman is allowed to photograph you onsite because I had just put in an email to him regarding "resort photos" before my ceremony wondering if he could do that so I guess the answer is yes...

Just a comment from a disney visitor. We absolutely love to see brides and wedding parties at Disney at any of the resorts or restaurants. it really addds to the excitement for us and makes us feel special to have gotten to peek at this special occasion for the bride and groom.

I am sure that many people like to watch the festivities too.

We were married off-site at a nearby chapel, but stayed at WDW. Our wedding was at 9am...I had Disney Cosmetology do my hair (I did my make-up)...we stayed at the ASMu...when we came back from our wedding, we pretty much just changed out of our wedding attire right away and went to Epcot. We then went back to our room and got dressed up for dinner at Epcot, but I chose not to wear my dress. Mine was just a simple white dress...but I didn't want to chance being denied entry to Epcot. So I wore a black dress...we then did an Illuminations cruise with newly found DISer friends.

I had thought about doing pictures around the various resorts in our wedding attire, but knew I couldn't go into the park with my dress on. But by the time we got back from the wedding, we were ready to hit the parks...

I know that if I were a Disney Bride, I certainly wouldn't feel offended or put off if I saw another Bride on my wedding day. I would think the same as another poster said...Good taste!

I say go for it! You may not be having your ceremony at WDW, but you are certainly celebrating there! There are many brides who have their ceremony off Disney property, (for religous reasons), and then come back on property to celebrate. I don't see a problem with it. Afterall, you are are vacationing there, and staying at one of the properties. As another poster mentioned, i would not even bother calling DFTW. The rule is you can't wear your dress to the park. Nothing is said about restaurants!

Now what if someone was to get married near halloween and attended MNSSHP as a bride and groom.... would that be allowed???
