Disney bracelets to replace Disney Resort ID card?

This is a great question.

I stayed at an indoor water-park this past weekend and they provided us with resort bracelets instead of typical resort cards which allowed us to open our room door, charge meals, charge souvenirs and even take out tokens at the arcade, all on a bracelet. I didn't have to carry my wallet or a resort card like the Disney Resort ID card. I told my wife, it would be great if Disney gave you that option, this way, you wouldn’t need to carry anything valuable with you anywhere while in Disney.

How does it work? Is there a micro chip in it or is a card attached to the bracelet?

That's a great idea because my kids insist carrying their cards and I wouldn't have to worry about them losing them.

Yes, there is a micro chip in there, the same as there is a bar code on the Disney card. And, it was a water-park so water would not be an issue with the micro chip and my kids each had a bracelet as well, except they did not have the micro chip. It was a great experince, I mean, I just turn my wrist and BAM, I open my hotel door. Kid wants 10 tokens to play video games, BAM, I put my wrist to the machine and BINGO. Same with food, I even got a .50 cent paper with it.

I think it would be great for Disney, or at least give the guest the option.

You have to hold it next to the sensor for a good 5 seconds or so, it was great.

That would cost a lot to change all the doors at the resorts to use this system.

I'm for that idea, color code them also for each different resort and that would stop pool hopping, plus they could put a sensor on the mug refill station so it would only dispense if the reader senses the correct resort and time frame.

I can see how that would be helpful, especially for the younger ones. Could you also use it to charge items to your room? Probably so.

That is a cool idea but I think it would be too expensive for the parks and hotels to redo everything.
What will this world think of next!?!?!?! :confused3 :)

That sounds awesome! I know I check, recheck, recheck again, etc. that I have my card after I use it! I would feel better with a wristband because then I could just check my wrist for it rather than routinely checking my wallet!

The only problem I can see with that -- wrist band tans. I avoid wearing my watch in the summer so I don't get that watch tan. I guess I'm just weird that way. :p

Although handy, I don't like the idea. I wouldn't want to wear a paper bracelet for an entire week.

:rotfl2:
A sensor to protect soda which probably costs them less than 1/100th of a cent per glass in the volume they buy.

You guys are too much with this protecting Disney's rights crap.

Having to wear a bracelet would make me crazy! But I can see advantages too.

Interesting idea. But for me it would be a problem. I have trouble wearing the LIVESTRONG bracelets...and the paper ones I rip off the second we leave the park. But...ideas are the only way to make changes!

These were pretty tough plastic bracelets, not paper, you need to cut them off. As far as tan lines, I guess you can go to the front desk and rotate them every day or every other day. I mean, I did not need to carry ANYTHING, no wallet, wife didn't need a purse or small bag, we didn't even need pockets on our shorts.

It would be GREAT for Disney, but like someone mentioned, it may not be worth it for Disney money wise to change over to bracelets at this time.

Would remind me to much of hospital braclets rofl. But if they were cool disney character one I could get used to it. :)
