But who's counting?? ;)

So excited! We've been several times, but not with all 4 kids this big--ages 4, 8, 10, and 14 (bookend boys, girls in the middle). :) I'm a little worried about my oldest--at this age, they decide everything is "lame," and I might have to kick him in the pants. ;) My girls have decided they are "over" princesses (but I am decidedly NOT), and little man loves everything. Hmmm. Maybe I should just take HIM. lol

Where do I get one of those cool ticker thingers??

Well, just wanted to say hey! Glad to be here! :)

First of all, :welcome:

Go to the top of the page, and where it says "Tickers" between Post Photos and FAQ click on that and it will take you to the DIS Tickers site. From there, click the "Vacation Countdown" link on the left hand side. Then you can choose your "background" and "slider" and insert the date that you are going to WDW and whatever text you would like above and/or below it. Then you will generate your ticker and it will take you to a screen that will give you four link options for posting your ticker. You should go to the URL that says "for sites that do not allow HTML." I believe it is the second or third option. You just copy and paste the link within the box to your signature here on the Disboards. And voila! You've got a ticker! :thumbsup2

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Hi and welcome.

I know what you mean about your 14 year old. My oldest will have just turned 14 within days of us leaving. He thinks everything his younger siblings like is "lame".

All of my kids will be told it is a family trip and there may be some things we do that one of them will not like as much but the others will. Example, if my dd, who will be 8, wants to see princesses, then we take the time to do that and the boys will have to suck it up. If there is something the boys want but she isn't as interested in, well she will just have to put her big girl panties on and deal with it. I want to give everyone a chance to do and see what they want, within reason. Me, I want to see Mickey!!

They will all be told if there is complaining, they can stay home in Canada and go to school while the rest of us go to Disney without them. I'm not putting up with complaining and whining on our first, biggest and probably only family trip ever.

Good luck and think of all of us at home while you are in the world

Our children basically grew up with Disney...amny many trips while they were young and continues to this day....they are both grown, one close to forty and one in her thirties....back in the day, home with their crew, they might have said it was lame but once on property, no matter their ages....they had fun, never complained and never one regret normention on "lame".....

We've done 44 trips and looking forward to trip45 in September, and even though it's just the wife and I now.....it's never lame....children still go when they can but with being adults and having their own life, Disney is still a big part for them...we got the chance to go this past December with our daughters family and her baby, 11 months, got to meet the mouse for the first time and we were all there....what a treat...the tradition continues...don't worry about lame....

Congratulations and you - all of you - will have a great time! A couple of years ago I went with a ton of extended family and everyone was able to find something they enjoyed. I will warn that the 15 year old girl would have had a much better time the first day at Magic Kingdom had she not worn flip flops (really flimsy ones too). So if you can make sure your kids have comfortable shoes on - they might be happier!

Welcome, I wouldn't worry about the teenager, even the most sullen it is so not cool to hang out with mom dad and my siblings teenager can easily get swept up in the Disney magic. After a day or two he will see that it is not lame, see that other people of all age are having fun, and he realize that he doesn't know any of those people there and that pic of him riding Dumbo wearing his Mickey ears isn't going to wind up in his high school yearbook he will relax and get into things a little more.

Yay! Welcome to the DIS! Glad you are here! Have a fantabulous trip! I think even the oldest son will "Secretly" like it! :goodvibes
