Disney Bounceback Free Dining... Is this a good deal? Just got back from POP.

POP is in Orange County and the All Stars are in Osceola County. It just goes to show you the size of Walt Disney World!

On the Hopper passes... When we (Thom 42 & Tiffany DD6) hit the parks, we don't have time for all that transporting between parks. We are there from opening until "the throw us out" (to quote my daughter). On our trip in 2006 it was just us two, she was so wore out that she was asleep on every returning bus. One night when there was no seats on the bus, she even managed to fall asleep with me holding her. She was 4 on that trip.

We just checked out of the Yacht Club on Monday and were not given a Bounce Back offer. I asked about it at the front desk and they said they are not given to everyone. We probably would not have booked anyway, but I kind of wanted the option. So to those of you who receive the Bounce Back offer - you should feel lucky

You don't need to get a flyer in your room to be able to book the FD BB. You can book by calling ext. 8844. Sorry you got bad information :(

Anyone onsite can book this offer until it expires (probably some time in October). We've booked with BB for the past three years. This years trip, three adults, one infant, one standard room at Pop, one/day one/park tickets per adult, 14 nights was $1686. I figured next year's trip, if we also do 14 nights will be only slightly more $. Yes, you can tweak dates as long as availability remains and book up to 14 nights total. It would cost us 1K more to upgrade to a moderate resort so once again, we'll keep a value resort! It's a little hectic in the food court, esp. in the am. and late evening but it's a "fun" hectic time. We're checking in this Sunday and will be booking again for next year- woo hoo!---Kathy

What do you mean the POP is better tax wise? I didn't realize there was a difference in taxes. What are the different counties? and tax percentages? do you know?

Orange County (POP) is 12.5%
Osceola County (Allstars) is 13%

We originally booked Contemporary for August 23-Aug30 for 2 adults, 2 juniors, and one child with one day base tickets.

When we got home I called and changed it to Poly club level. Our total was $3778.69.

We actually left the hotel on Magic Express at 5 am on the 24th. My dh called the number the night before and they told him that yes there was a bounceback being offered and yes he could book it in the morning but no she couldn't tell him anything else. She told him to call at 7am
I called at 7 am and got the nicest cm. She was very helpful. She tried to work quickly because she could here that my plane was boarding.

I just got back and booked the same offer 9 nights as CSR 1 day park tickets in a standard room w/ basic dining for 1670.73 original prices was 24XX.XX( The savings was appx 685.00) which seemed worth it to me, I have 10day MYW w/ hoppers and WP on them from this trip we never used...

So, I think it is good, we had no flyer though, so I am curious did it come with basic dining or CS because she assumed I wanted basic and did not offer either of the other plans to me, also I checked out yesterday but booked today for those who missed it just had to speak to guest services.

I tried to do the math using the flyer quoted rates for moderates and deluxe resorts...but it didn't come out to what the online system was giving me :( So I guess we'll do a Value again next year. It's odd that I can multiply that 'per room/per person' rate for value's and it works out to about the same as what Disneyworld.com is giving me....but trying to do it with the mods or deluxe and it's way off base from Disneyworld.com.....who knows. I just wanted to see if we could afford a mod or deluxe next year before checking in this year so we wouldn't make the CM on the phone run all those numbers for us, especially if there was absolutely no way.

If anyone makes a ressie using the bb at mod or deluxe, post your numbers....that might help those of us trying to make an informed decision :)

Thanks!!!

While all the values are roughly the same price per night (not counting tax), the moderate and value resorts vary widely in their per night price.

With free dining you are paying rack rate for the room and full price (at time of booking) for the tickets.

From what I hear, free dining is a great deal for value resorts. Moderate resorts have it as an OK deal. Deluxe resorts aren’t much of a deal at all. Of course, this takes into account that there are usually discount codes for room only during the free dining period--especially for AP holders.

I always say before booking any dining plan (or at least prior to your 45 day window), decide where and what you might want to eat using All Ears menus. You may want to do it ideally rather than budget wise, especially with free dining. Then see how it fits into the dining plan to decide if it is truly a good deal--and don't forget to add tip costs. Yes, it's a savings for what it offers, especially if you are booking/ordering the most expensive things, but if it isn't how you'd otherwise eat normally, it might not be actually saving you money.

I know for us, a DDE card (since we have APs) saves us a ton more than the dining plans, even for where we'd eat ideally. Add a room only discount and we're way ahead than free dining.
