Did Disney really just buy Villages Nature at DLP so casually? Usually Disney would have been much louder about this

No, the did not buy it, it is still a joint Venture. Village Nature just got extra magic hours like the "real" Disney Hotels

Yep, its part of the Disney hotel group now at DLP basically. It gets all the benefits of being Disney owned.
