Just returned from spending a week at Disney. It was a lot tougher taking a 4yo and a 4mo than I though it would be.

But the worst part of it was loosing our backpack of stuff on the first full day. We rode the bus from POP to EPCOT. I got distracted dealing with a pair of strollers that I didn't realize that I had NOT picked up my backpack from the bus seat until after the bus had pulled away... it was never seen again.

I started talking to another bus driver about trying to contact the bus and retrieving the backpack before our bus was out of the Epcot parking lot. The driver took my name and a phone number. He indicated that he should be able to call up the bus driver and get the backpack back and ready to pickup at the bus station by the time we're done with our day at EPCOT.

That was the last of the backpack. I checked back at EPCOT, EPCOT lost and found, POP lost and found, and Disney's general lost and found (where EVERYTHING lost and found from anywhere in WDW should eventually get sent). I checked everyday and even went to lost-and-found in person where the CM was very patient and checked everywhere for any sort of pack that even MIGHT match mine.

But in the end... nothing.

The incident colored our trip for several days. Fortunately I was "wearing" our primary camera, DW and I each had our wallets and cell phones one us, and we NEVER keep all of our vacation cash in one place. So it could have been a lot worst.

But still there are several items that have just vanished, and they can't be easily replaced:

Believe it or not, the thing I hate loosing the most is the 1st Aid Kit I had in there. It was a very through yet very compact kit. The bag itself isn't available for purchase anymore.

The other thing was the back-pack itself. It was about 10 years old with tons of life left in it. But again, the age makes a similar replacement difficult to impossible.

The last thing was my secondary camera setup. I was only "wearing" my vacation camera. This 2nd camera was a complete setup for taking really nice shots - external flash, flash mounting bracket, etc. Bran-new the setup would have cost something like $600. But I had spent time looking for quality USED stuff off Ebay and gotten it all over time for less than $250. It was old technology (only a 4MB camera), but with the full setup, I can take some great portraits compared to the 7MB point-n-shot with it's red-eye 7ft max distance flash that I also spent about $250 for just it earlier this year.

OK, %!$#&*^~ session over.

I wouldn't give up hope yet - keep calling Lost and Found. It can take a while for the bus stuff to get to the main Lost and Found.

I second the advice to keep calling. We had our backpack stolen in Disney a couple of years ago. We think someone just got the wrong stroller and then abandoned it when they realized it. Anyhow, the CM's were wonderful and we were able to get it back the next day from Lost and Found. Nothing had been taken out (including the chicken fingers we had saved for DD from her lunch). :) They did tell us, though, that sometimes it can take a long time to make it to the central Lost and Found. Good luck!

We left some things at Animal Kingdom Lodge once on a trip. We left it out on the savannah viewing balcony. I actually didn't even realize I left it there. But a few weeks after we were home I was wondering where that stuff was. And then a few weeks later we received a call from the hotel's lost and found. And upon our confirmation of losing the items they shipped them to me.

So long story short, I hope they find your bag and send it on to you. I'm sorry that happened. Something like that definitely would've disrupted our vacation as well.

Good luck!!!! and Pixie dust!!!!

I agree, it could still turn up. But it does suck to lose something like that....It would have put a damper on my trip too. I've had similar things happen and it's a little bit depressing, even though you try hard not to let it be. I hope you can take a deep breath and focus on the good things that happened during your trip, so the "bad" stuff can sort of fade in the distance.

When I was a teen, I left my DM's high school class ring (from 1952) in the comfort stations at FW. We reported it and lo and behold, the ring showed up in the mail about a month later. We couldn't believe it. We thought it was gone forever. So, have hope.....

I agree, don't give up. As long as someone turns it in, Disney will make every attempt to get it back to you. A package showed up at our door about a month after reporting my sons "toy bag" missing.

Aww.... I really hope it will turn up for you. That would really bother me, too.

Had the same thing happen.... It showed up the following day. And I was so stressed out because it had all the little knick knacks like the autograph book. They have a pretty good recover rate..

This makes me wonder, we think we left a couple of my daughter's Littlest Pet Shops at Wolfgang Puck's in DTD. We did not notice until we we packing to leave, and had no time to swing back there to ask. We were figuring that they're gone and not worth trying to get back, since they are so little, even in the plastic tube. But, with what you guys are saying, and my daughter crying about her Iguana tonight, should we at least try? :confused3

Thanks. :)

My wife lost her purse in the bushes along a river in a rural part of Mexico. It showed up at the house six months later. Someone found it, got the address from her DL, took out $10 to cover postage, and mailed it to us.

You just never know.

When you travel, make sure that you and your spouse each carry a credit card that the other doesn't have. That way when someone loses theirs, they can call them all in as lost and you still have one you can use.

Last year at POFQ I forgot to empty the safe!!! Against my better judgement, I had brought some of my nicer jewlery with me. I was panicked when I got home and realized what I had done. Thankfully our housekeeper at POFQ (I can't remember her name for the life of me) turned in every single item. :thumbsup2 I did have to be persistent with calling as I kept getting directed to supervisors who were not fully aware of the situation. Once we figured out the logistics my items were sent quickly. I am so grateful for the honesty of our dear housekeeper. :lovestruc I was generous with the tips simply hoping for washcloth bunnies and recieved so much more. I've also learned that bringing too much bling on vacation is just plain dumb!!!
