Disney before a Halloween party

Can anyone tell me if it is unreasonably crowded at disneyland during the day before they close for a Halloween party? Wondering if we should waste a day...

I haven't found it to be any busier than it would be on a non MHP day.

We found the day to be quite nice on the morning of the party. It started picking up around 3, and the crowds were there by 5. If you are a ride enthusiast, rides clear out in the evening (except haunted mansion) and you can basically walk on. The crowds are on the treat trails, getting the candy.

I found it was just fine until they started letting MHP attendees in around 4 pm. Then it got crazy. And DCA on Halloween party nights can be pretty busy too!

OK, thank you! We have been to and loved the MHP but could not get tickets this year sadly, since this was a last minute trip. So, we wondered if we should do the day time park to enjoy the fall/halloween decorations with out getting to do the actual party. I think we will try it!

Don't hesitate to go to the ticket booths at DLR first thing in the morning on 10/5 and ask about day-of-event tickets for MHP. They won't be discounted, of course, but if you want to go to the party there may still be hope. I think that Disney holds a certain number of tickets back for other reasons, and when those tickets are not given away or distributed to whoever they would be allotted to, the tickets are released back to the booths for day of event purchase. The 3 Disney hotels get some tickets on the mornings of the events, to give to their guests. If those tickets are not all used up, they, too, will be thrown back into the mix, available for people to purchase on the day of the event. So it's worth it to check the booths both in the morning and in the afternoon, to see if tickets have become available.

Once the party guests are let into the park at 6 p.m., it will be incredibly crowded for 3 hours, until the non-party folks have to clear out.

I think that will be the best bet -- I'm pretty sure the GCH will come through for you that morning so you won't have to deal with the ticket booths.

Also ask when you check in. Guests have been offered day of tickets when they checked into the on site hotels.

Thanks again for the wonderful suggestions, we were able to get tickets for the halloween party from the front desk of GCH! I did ask at check in and they told me to come back the morning of the party. They only start selling them at 6am, and there was a line already at 6am. The people in front of me were buying 6-12 tickets each! I was scared they would run out before I got up to the desk! They did verify that you were a guest of the hotel, and one of the people trying to buy tickets was not a guest and they were not able to purchase. They also said the party tickets at the gate were not available. I have a feeling that some of the guests that were purchasing 12 tickets may have been selling them to others who were not guests.
We were excited to be able to attend the party and it was a wonderful night. We got very lucky and were on the top floor of the GCH in a room facing DL, so the night before the party, we were able to watch the fireworks from our balcony! Super cool!
