Do any of your kids have a Disney Themed room (esp the boys)? Our youngest is in Love w/ the Toy Story Movies and for christmas he is getting a Toy Story toddler bed set and a Toy Story Table and Chairs set for his room. He has 3 Buzz Lightyear toys that he just plays with constantly. So, we were going to make his room a "Toy Story" theme, but have no clue where to start other than w/ what we have. His bed is Speed Racer (handed down from big brother), and his toy box is Winnie the Pooh (again from big brothers room as a baby). What kind of things would you all suggest to help make it a "toy story" themed room?

what paint colour is his room?? If you can paint it I would suggest a blue. Home Depot and/or Lowes has Behr line of Disney paints. I also would get the peel and stick stickers of Buzz Light Year. Do you have any pictures from a recent trip OR could you get some pictures off the internet and put them into a frame and decorate his room? May be put some of those glow in the star stickers of Stars and planets to represent Buzz.

Disney rooms always look adorable, but I want to caution you. My kids have been known to change interests in characters about every year and a half so I have always refused to decorate their room with characters. I will hang a couple of pictures if they want, then everything else like their curtains and comforters are all solid colors or generic patterns (stars for example) so we don't have to change alot of things when they get bored with that character. JMO.

You can get some really cute posters on line. We've gotten some at Disney World and we've gotten some at www.art.com but there are other websites as well. You can get inexpensive (and expensive, for that matter) frames at Hobby Lobby. Our 13 year old son loves collecting Disney memorabilia. This year, they had tons of Toy Story items at Disney World, probably because of the 3-D versions of 1 & 2 that were recently out and the 3rd movie that will be coming out before too awful long. Disney Store (on line as well) sells quite a bit, too.

We will be buying our first house there, so we can paint the room finally (we live in gov't housing right now so its white walls only). I was thinking going w/ a nice shade of blue since it could go from Toy Story to Super Hero to Sponge Bob etc. I didnt think about the printing off the picture of them w/ Buzz and Woody a few weeks ago, so thank you for the "DUH" moment :rotfl2: There is a lady where we are moving to that does Name Plaques in Toy Story theme and I was thinking of doing that. The Glow in the Dark Stars is a super Idea and I dont know why I didnt think of that esp since we are using them in their room right now here. I'm going to keep brainstorming, but my brain has been more in the "brain block" mode lately...LOL thanks everyone.

I believe you said the bed is Speed Racer. Is it plastic, wooden or metal? You can likely paint it to fit in better - maybe make it more like RC in the movie. They make a great spray paint that works for plastics and wood or metal paint is easy to find. Same with the toybox.

My DS's room is painted "Star Command Blue" (from the Disney paint lines at Home Depot).

I know they have room "suggestion" cards there but I don't remember if there's a Toy Story one there or not. Really, I just happened to like the color. :)

Plastic and metal. Its those toddler beds you see in walmart w/ the character stickers on them. I heard about the spray paint or the special paint for plastic last night from a friend. I was thinking of doing that and making the bed blue. Either that or buying the toy story bed because his is breaking anyway from being used for 3yrs now (older brothers first), and I want another year or so out of it.

Santa brought DS a new Mickey Mouse bedroom for DS last year. This is the best picture that I could find that showed most of the elements of the room. We tried to design it so we could easily change it in a few years. The mickey border can peal off and a new border can go up (we think he will probably want a sports theme so the wall colors and bedding should work). The bedding is plain but compliments the border. I found really cheap prints on Ebay of classic Mickey movies ($20 for 5). Again easy to swap out the pictures later on. The Mickey decals on the wall peal right off so easy to change as well. I just have plain navy curtains on the window. He loves his Mickey Mouse room and so do I, but it should be fairly easy and inexpensive to change in a few years. I also love that is is very classic and not to garish!

My ds had a Stitch bedroom for a couple of years. We got the bedding and decorations from Disney online. We still use the hamper, it's just in our office instead of his room. They do change interests -- now we have an alien green room....

He can change the paint, bedding etc., every few years, but the carpet stays slate blue -- my dh bought it to last for the duration!

My older DS has a Cars themed room and younger DS has Mickey. I really like the removeable wall stickers. They are easy to put up, and easy to take down when interest moves on, and are usually reuseable (older DS started with the Mickey theme and we moved those wall stickers into younger DS room when older DS wanted a Cars room.)

We did Classic Mickey for the boys room. Here are some pictures.

My Father in Law found this calendar, I cut them out and just matted them, and there were actually some winter scene ones so right now I switched out the pictures and those are in.

Awww!!!! You all did sooooooo awesome!!!! I just hope I can pull off something so cool.

I painted the room a solid color and then found a bunch of those disney lithographs that the Disney store sold with movies (I found them cheap at a garage sale). I used matching frames. I'll take some pics later.

Very cool rooms ladies!

My dd2 is totally tink and princresses, we painted a soild color on her walls and than ordered fatheads for decoration ( they can be easly removed) My ds room is Mickey mouse and phillies. I would check fathead.com for toystory stuff.

paint the room a toy story themed color- like half the wall Buzz/alien green- and the other half royal blue, set up the toys as decoration, get some bedding to match, and a poster on the wall-
ds loves Lilo and Stitch, a couple of years ago we did a great job on his room-
it's painted Stitch blue, with GIANT framed movie poster of the original movie(ebay) it's hard to find linens in this theme- so he has a Disney 'animal kingdom' type spread from Walmart- also bought some of the prints they gave out for buying the dvd (4 of them) framed plus the paper surfboard given with the prints (so cute) tacked on the wall
bought cool tie dyed rainbow curtains at Ikea and copied a 12" tall picture of Stitch into middle of the rainbow-(using a pencil and tracing paper) then painted the character in the proper colors using acrylic paints- it's been 3-4 years, and he still loves it

I think it would be cute to pain the room blue with clouds on the walls like Andy's room. Then on the shelves have the classic toys like Mr. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, etc.
