I know those Disney balloons are very appealing to small children. Do a lot of people buy them? I can see it if you have a stroller, but otherwise... the last thing I want to do is carry a balloon around all day. Plus you can't take them on rides, can you? What do people do with them when they want to go on a ride?

I might be inclined to maybe rent a balloon for a short while. Or maybe not. :rotfl:

I think most people who don't have a stroller or something to tie them to simply wait until they're almost ready to leave the park before purchasing them. Another problem is what to do with them when you have to leave for the airport. I've heard of people giving them away to a child on their last day since it can't go on the airplane. A little pixie dust for a small child is always nice!;)

We bought one on one trip. We bought it later in the day and kept it in the room after that. When we packed for the plane, we untied it and deflated it. Probably won't do it again though.

We never do- we always stay at AKL, its not allowed.:(

Just a small caveat - if you are at AKL they do not allow balloons because of the danger to the animals.

and you didnt even touch on how much they cost.

We will take a picture of the person holding all the balloons and photo shop grand daughter there

I like the rental idea. :)

We got one balloon, once, during our stroller days. When we went back to the park the next morning, it got untied from the stroller and went up into a tree, too tall to reach. Sigh. Balloon tragedy. (this was at DLR, where they do not have any sort of replacement policy for balloons, IF they still have one at WDW)

DS really wants a balloon (and honestly, so do I, I love them!) but the reality is...it's impossible. No stroller = nowhere to leave it. Family of 3, and we all love to ride everything = no one to leave it with. Get it on the last day? How to get it home, since we fly? Impossible. If they were less expensive I'd consider it as a one day souvenir and not worry about the rest of the days, but they aren't cheap.

I don't understand that one as long as it is is the room what harm can it do to the animals.

Because they don't necessarily stay in the rooms.

Yup. I bet kids lose them a lot...would hate to see an animal eat it, or suffocate...:(

My dd gets one at MK every trip. Usually when we are heading back to the resort at night or we make a special trip on our last day to get one. We drive so no problem getting it back home.
Last trip however she got the pretty glittery light up balloon, luckily she got it early in the trip because it deflated a lot by the end of the first day. She went to the gift shop at POP (where we were staying) and they had another one sent over the next day. Same thing happened with it  the CM said they had a lot of problems with that particular balloon deflating. I think they finally gave dd a refund.

This is my treat to me...feeding that inner child and all that. :goodvibes I get my balloon on my way back to the hotel on my first night of the trip. With all the miscelaneous cash we throw around while at the world, I never feel bad about the money I spend on my balloon.pixiedust:

How much is the balloon with the Mickey Head? I really like the ones that light up (not sure if they all do?). Very cute! I'm not a kid and even I want one!

Many years ago. On my eldest sons first visit, we bought the mickey head shaped balloon. At the end if trip we deflated it. That made it perfectly flat but still in the mickey head shape, and we framed it along with an enlarged photo of him holding it in the park and a park map and park tickets. Stayed on his bedroom wall for a few years and was a great memento of the trip.

We got one two trips ago for DD (then 2.5) and tied it to the stroller. It came everywhere with us (except AK) during that trip and we considered it money well spent since it gave DD so much joy to look at it and play with it in the room. After a week, it was still completely filled and DD wanted to give it away rather than attempting to deflate it and we made a child checking in very happy. On our last trip a really wonderful woman gifted us her completely inflated balloon on our first night at the hotel. DD was so thrilled, she talked about the "wonderful balloon lady" the entire trip. I'd like to attempt not getting a balloon this coming trip since both children will want one and it is expensive, but if we do end up with balloons it will be nice to at least spread a little pixie dust before our flight home.

I'm a little scared! DD will so want a balloon - how much are they? :confused3:rotfl2:

Hah I have no concept of the price point on these balloons! :)

Until this past trip my kids never got a balloon. My dd8 really wanted a Mickey Head ballon but ds11 is allergic to latex so that is a no go. We got a mylar one on the way out of the MK and it stayed in the room all week. The morning we checked out we slid a small straw into the area it is inflated and deflated it, folded it and put it in the suitcase. My older dd works at Kroger in the Pharmacy. She took it to work with her and got it reinflated.

Dh got me a blue Mickey head balloon that is inside another balloon last trip.

Kept it in our room for the entire week and it was so nice to see it every night.

On our last night, Dh deflated both balloons and put it in the suitcase. When we got home, he took it to Party City where they reinflated both balloons for $5.00!

Guess what? It lasted another 3 months. :cool1:

We go in Sept and I'm having DH do the same thing!!
