Don't mind me, I just came here to rant and gather some support from the beautiful Disney brides-to-be! My 'maids and I have been friends for years and had always wanted to have a Disney costume party. So since I am all about Disney, they are throwing me a Disney Bachelorette Costume Party! It's about as wholesome as it could possibly get (I wouldn't have it any other way - my jr bridesmaid is coming as Belle in all her golden dress glory!) and we are going on a Disney-themed scavenger hunt and then topping it off with dessert at the Cheesecake Factory (my fav!). A friend of mine is making me Belle's blue peasant dress...yay! We are totally excited, as this party has been a long time in the making since we were teenagers. But now the MOH is complaining that she doesn't want to dress up and isn't totally into it, not to mention she is complaining about it to other people! :sad1: And "they":snooty: :snooty: :snooty: have been wondering why on earth a bunch of adults are in on this!

I guess I just want to know that we're not all crazy! I think it's a cute idea and my friends are excited about dressing up as their favorite princesses and characters and all of us having a fun time! But it never fails - someone ALWAYS has to come along and rain on my Disney parade!:sad2:

I think that sounds like a blast

Id love to do something like that...for any party

it sounds like your friend is being a party pooper.....theres always one!!!

I wouldnt let it get you down & go all out.....i would love to hear how the end result was

:thumbsup2

I would totally come to that!

You are always going to have a party pooper when you want to do something different!

For the last two halloweens - DF and I have dressed as Tinkerbell & Peter Pan and then Ariel and Prince Eric (My Mom and I hand made these and they came out great!)

Both years my best friend/maid of honor has dressed as Belle in her golden dress - other friends of ours have dressed as other disney characters as well

So no you aren't the only one who loves to dress up as a Disney Princess - I even got my DF into it to!:goodvibes

We even got pictures done at Sears (first as a total joke because they had some sort of costume contest, but they came out really cute and Sears ended up screwing them up so we got a Ton of upgrades and loads of pics for free so all of our friends has pics of us as Tinkerbelle and Peter Pan:rotfl: ) and we have a ton of pics of us as Ariel & Eric that my Mom took - I'll post if anyone cares to see

We had the best times and everyone loved our costumes - though I'll have to give in this year and dress as Princess Leia and Darth Vader because he says its his choice this year!

I would love to see your photo of you and your DF dressed up! Sounds like a good time.

OP-- your not crazy!! I promise!!

whatever! a disney costume party would be sooo much fun... can I come?? haha...

plus this way like you said, you are including the jr. bridesmaid too! that's so sweet!

That sounds like so much fun! Have a great time and don't let one person spoil it for you, expecially since you've been planning it for so long ;)

I say go for it and have a blast! I have definately learned there is always someone that will try to ruin things. Maybe not make it manditory to dress up? I bet those that come not dressed up will wish they were by the end of the evening.

Just to give a differing opinion, I think you must realize that some people get embarrassed easily and dressing up as a cartoon character definitely would embarrass many people. It's great that you want to do it but I'd say you should not get too mad because this isn't a common thing to do and many people would balk.

I do agree that maybe the other person shouldn't bad mouth your idea to others. Just have fun at your party and try not to hold hard feelings against those who don't want to participate! Good luck!

Congrats on your marriage, by the way! :)

I agree with what you said, that a costume party could make a lot of people balk. Maybe I should have included the fact that I asked all of my friends ahead of time what they thought of this, and they all were totally into it, except for the MOH. So you know as they say, majority rules!

Thanks for your support, all of you!! I finally decided not to let it bother me and just be happy doing what I want to do. If someone doesn't want to dress up, I don't care. I just want to have fun!

A couple people asked my to post pics of my halloween costumes as me & DF as Ariel & Eric and also Tinkerbell & Peter Pan - I have to scan in the Peter Pan pics but here are the Ariel & Eric Pics from Halloween 2006

I think we both look a little chubby (read fat) in this pic but it best show the entire costumes on both of us.

DF Costume - we bought a pirate shirt as plain as we could find at halloween store, bought red sash off ebay, blue sweatpants at forman mills, and black pirat boot tops at halloween store

My Costume - my mom made my tail and we design it so I could walk in it but not have to carry anything (some costume designs have you carrying the tail itself) and I didn't want my feet to show through. So we bought fabric from Joann's and then sewed the dark green part first (it has sparkles on it for a fish scale affect) then made the fins and cut pieces of the light green fabric and cut out pieces of cardboard and stuffed with pillow fluff to give it the full effect and sewed it all together. Then we cut tiny strips of light green fabric and stuff with a little pillow fluff to detail the top of the tail. The top of the tail was very tight so i couldnt walk completely normal but the bottom was looser. We also put Light green tulle in between the finns so my feet wouldnt show so It made it more of a very slim dress.
For the seashells I bought plastic white seashells as the costume store in the luau section. We spray painted them purple and glittered them up for shimmer. I boguth a (brand new) strapless bra of of ebay (purple strapless was hard to find!) and sewed the shells on. I bought a seashell necklace, starfish earrings, a fish bellybutton ring and a flounder purse off of ebay - the flounder purse was actually a trick or treat bag for kids. I bought a dark red wig from the halloween store and the tiara (the tiara was bought as a cute joke by DF for my Bday, but I ended up wearing it even it was a little kiddy with the Ariel Cameo on it) I originally bought a starfish I was going to glue or pin to the wig but Df didnt like it.

I was searching ebay like crazy before halloween for a good costume and they had a couple good ones on there but not my size and crazy expensive-one went for $100 so i was thinking then I can make back any money I spent on my costume but I dont want to part with it:goodvibes

This was a party for all young adults (read 21 and over) so i went bare skinned here with my belly (it was very warm this halloween but I felt a little self conscious for halloween night so I wore a nude bodysuit underneath everything when i gave out candy on my moms step

Hope you like!

Oh my gosh how adorable!!! What a great Ariel costume. I will have to post the pics of my bachelorette party after May 26. :)
