We are going to WDW in August. We were going to start trying in July, and I won't even know if I'm pregnant until we're in Disney or home from the trip.

Should I wait until August to start trying? Will I be sick at that point? Is it safe to fly that early in pregnancy....3-4 weeks along? :confused3 (I've heard of radiation exposure while flying...?)

Thanks for any advice or experience :goodvibes

Don't worry. My DS is now 10 and I didn't know I was pregnant until I was nearly 2 months along (irregular periods and several other issues). Anyway, I flew up to Minneapolis to see DH, went out for dinner and drank WAY too much wine...and then a week later found out I was pregnant! DS is fine (and so am I).

Get a book called What to Expect When You are Expecting and it will answer a lot of your questions. My best advice...RELAX!

It took me 10 years to get pregnant. I say go, live your life, and see what happens.

really up to you but IMHO you may not get pregnant right away so I don't see why it would be a problem. For most people it takes a little while so I wouldn't think it would be a issue to start trying in July if that is what you want to do. And like the other poster said even if you do get pregnant right away you would be really early on and wouldn't even realize it. GOOD LUCK!

Go have fun.You may not get pregnant right away.It took me 4 yrs to get pregnant with DD.She is now 4 and I have been trying 8mos for baby #2.

10 years ago when my DH and I were trying for our first we were at WDW and I didn't know if I was pregnant or not. I was too worried to ride the big rides. It turned out that it took us about 4 more months after that trip to get pregnant and I could have rode rides, but I was be careful "just in case" and the trip wasn't what it could have been. The choice is really yours - but the question for me would be how knowing or not affect your trip. Good Luck!

My husband and I are in hte same boat. We are going in August and are discussing having our 2nd child. We are deciding to wait until after our trip (or during the trip) because of how tired I was during my 1st pregnancy. We felt that we could wait 1 more month.
You need to do what you feel is right for you because as most people said it could take a couple of tries. It took us over a year to get pregnant with our DD (almost 3).
As for books. I would get "Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" and "Belly Laugh's by Jenny McCarthy).

Like the others said, chances are you won't get pregnant on the first try. But if you are lucky enough to get pregnant quickly, I wouldn't worry about it. Usually you don't really start to get sickness/symptoms until around 5-6 weeks or so. If you were planning on a huge drinking binge or something then maybe I'd wait another month. But honestly I think you'll be fine. And I looked into the radition thing with flying (I was in the same situation you are in last December - and didn't end up getting pregnant that month anyway). It's only a concern for people who fly frequently, like the flight attendants or business women who fly all the time. Taking a flight to FL and back wil have extremely minimal radiation. One other thing, just as a precaution, just in case you are pregnant when you are there and don't even know it, just stay hydrated since it will be so hot.

Good luck on trying to conceive! I'm 4 1/2 months pregnant right now and planning our vacation in February - our baby will be 3 months old at that time so it will be an all new way to tour Disney!!

You can absolutely fly so don't factor that in. My biggest concern would be the tiredness. That is how I knew I was pregnant with DD...I would fall asleep every night as soon as I got home from work and would sleep straight through. Personally, I wouldn't want to be pregnant at any stage at Disney but lots of women do it...and enjoy it.

I went to DL 4 months pregnant and just missed out ona few things wasn't a biggie and you probably won't even know if you are expecting by then anyway. I say if you're feelign like trying go for it.

So, DH and I have been trying for #2 off and on since January. It happened the 1st try for #1. We're going to DL in October and I will be bummed a bit if I'm pregnant then, because really I'm the one who's very into our trip haha. However, I decided I could still see and do fun things and watch my 2 year old discover Disney for the 1st time. I definitely know flying is ok for you, I wouldn't worry there. My concern for me is not getting to ride on rides haha. GL!

I got pregnant on my wedding day first try:) we flew to dominicain the next day I'm sure you'll be fine. You can never tell how long it'll take to get pregnant with my fist 4 i got pregnant right away and with my last it took 6 months.

I'm not sure if you're trying for your first or what. But, for the average person there's no reason not to try. Based on your cycle you won't know you're pregnant until it's time for your next period. And that will be about 2 weeks after conception. So if you try in July you probably won't know if you got pregnant until you're on your trip or when you get back (based on your cycle). For most women early pregnancy symptoms are light camping and sore breasts. You may feel a bit queasy - but everyone is different.

For me it's a different story in that I had 2 ectopic pregnancies and then lost my 3rd pregnancy at 12 weeks before I got pregnant with my now 21month old son.

And yes, most women don't get pregnant the first try, but I did 3 of my 5 pregnancies.

So I am very aware of what I'm doing and when I try for the simple reason I don't know what will happen.
That being said. If I decided to try in July and was going to Disney in August I wouldn't be overly concerened in that if I did get pregnant, it would be too early for anything to happen to ruin my trip or for any aspect of the trip to affect the pregnancy.

Whatever you decide - good luck!

I love Disneyland (never been to WDW!) way too much not to ride all the rides if I had the choice! I would wait until Aug. but that is just me;) I worry and stress and don't do anything that could even remotely be a problem during pregnancy so for me I wouldn't ride anything. Yes the odds are that you won't get pregnant your first month trying but I know many people who have!

Good luck and have fun in DW!

Well, everyone is different but if it were me I would wait. DH and I had a trip planned for October 2006 (my 30th birthday). In September, we decided to throw caution to the wind and see what happened. I got pregnant....found out 3 days before we left and by day #2 of the trip I was sick as a dog....it was still a great trip and I was thrilled to be pregnant but I don't ever want to go back to WDW during the early stages of a pregnancy. Plus we had gotten the dining plan and I could not eat a thing....DH however ate for me :)

I was also very sick, but not quite that quickly. I think personally I would wait, because I would be worrying about it all the time, especially since you won't know you are pregnant until after you get home. Maybe wait one more month and come home with a little souvenir! ;)

I would go ahead and try. DH and I will be trying for #2 also around our Disney trip. It took almost a year to get blessed with DS 3 and even then it took fertility drugs to get the job done. Good Luck .

Thanks everyone. I was very fortunate to get pregnant on our first try with DS who will be 3 in September. I really appreciate all of your advice. I'm still 'on the fence' about it, but am leaning towards trying.

Any advice is welcomed. Thanks again. :)
