Has anyone been to the world during Thanksgiving week? What are the crowds like? What is the weather like? Is it warm enough to use the pools?

Thanks!

We're going this year for Thanksgiving too!! Last time it was fairly crowded the entire week - we go Sat - Sat. Sun - Wed before Thanksgiving not quite as crowded as Thanksgiving day and the days following. Weather last time was definitely warm enough to swim all day. Hope you enjoy!! I can't wait!! :Pinkbounc

I am hoping that it is warm enough to swim, My inlaws are buying us the 7 day water plus hopper passes!! I keep hearing the same thing that it is slower Sun-Wed before Thg and then thins out again on Mon after. Hope so because we don't leave until Wed after Thg and get there the Mon before so hope to get a few days of less crowds but if not oh well, we will have a great time either way!!

We use to go this time of year all the time. The crowd has been heavier the last 4 or 5 years. The parks are decorated and beautiful. Thanksgiving night my family got in the pool so the water must have been fine. We had a great time in the parks. :tinker: :tinker: :tinker:

Don't forget to wear your lime green! We're going Sat - Sat too but staying @ WL...hope to see you! :thumbsup2

HI
We have been a few times around Thanksgiving ... last year was the busiest for sure BUT after that weekend it was much better. In fact altho it was busy, I will never go in July - the temperature was awesome - we went to the water parks, swam, etc - the nights may be a little cooler for those that are not used to colder temps. :)
Its really a great time to go - I enjoy the festivities. :goodvibes

I'll be in lime green, but DH & DS won't - they think I'm nuts!!

We went for Thanksgiving in '04 and it was crowded, but the weather was great! We went 2 weeks ago and it was crowded but it was HOT!! We all had a great time in Nov. and would go again during Thanksgiving, but will never go in June again.

Hi tigerkat

we'll be at Boardwalk Villas Saturday to Friday then back again the following monday.

I'll have Limegreen but the rest of my gang things i'm nuts too. :dance3:

Heres to crazy people :drinking1

So...are you going to have LIME GREEN clothes on or are you opting for a LIME GREEN MICKEY HEAD PAINT CHIP from Home Depot? I'm kind of afraid to approach folks wearing the green because I've read about non-DISers reacting strangely. I'll have my LGMDPC on my backpack, and so will my kids...if you see us, come say HI! :thumbsup2

see went last thanksgiving and I wasn't impressed. I actually went for the x-mas decorations and was surprised to see that it was only the hotels that were decorated other then Osbourne (which was totally worth it). I found the weather wonderful and cool at night, as far as the swimming yep in the day. DW is wonderful anytime IMO the crowds don't bother me, I am used to going at spring break so anytime is better then that, lol

There on Friday ans Saturday last year and it was crowded.

We went over Thanksgiving '04. We did a 4 day trip..Wed-Sat and hit the holiday crowd head on. The lines were long, the weather was great. Would be cool in the a.m. and in the p.m. but that didn't stop us from going swimming. We had a great time. My DH's only complaint....it didn't feel right to be listening to Christmas music and enjoying the 80+ weather. Guess next time he can stay home and enjoy shoveling the driveway while he listens to Christmas music..ha ha.
Have a great trip.

I will have my LGMHPCon me somewhere!! I too am not going to approach just anyone wearing lime green. I'll just be looking for the paint chips!!!! :goodvibes

We have gone during Thanksgiving the last 2 years and we have loved it. We usually head down the Saturday before and come home the Saturday after. We have found that the crowds don't roll in until Wednesday. The bonus of going during Thanksgiving is that you get a little Christmas in there too!! The resorts and parks are all decorated beautifully for Christmas. Also, the day after Thanksgiving you can catch the lighting of the Christmas tree at Epcot, that is a lot of fun.

The weather has been great, warm enough to swim definitely. Last year we had a couple of chilly nights, but the days are wonderful. If you want a good dinner suggestion for Thanksgiving dinner we would reccommend Whispering Canyon. It is traditional fare served family style in a very fun atmosphere.

Enjoy your trip!!

We actually go down the Friday after Thanksgiving and stay through the following Saturday. That first weekend is soooo busy. But once Sunday afternoon hits, the crowds go right down. We love going at this time of year. It's decorated for Christmas, there's MVMCP and the Osborne Lights. It's also usually warm enough to swim. We even try to hit a water park at least one day and swim at our resort. When we were there in 2002 it was very cold at night, and we were wearing 2 sweatshirts. But lately we just wear shorts and a sweatshirt at night, sometimes pants, but not too often. We are from upstate NY so anything above 60 is warm to us!!!! We will be down there again this year on Friday through the following Saturday. And I made DH pick up the mickey head chips from home depot!!!! :joker:

Thanksgiving is the most happiest, funnest, special, magical, spectacular, thankfulest time of the year! We simply love this time of year at Disney...can't you tell????

The weather usually cooperates. We usually swim and crowds are usually pretty good. Last year I read the crowds were a bear though. :confused3 We skipped it because we decided to do the MNSSHP party instead of the MVMCP.

There is a however...one year, we swam with a high of 82º and then it dropped to around 40º the next night!!!! So, my advice is watch the weather channel right up to the time that you leave as you never know!!! If there is a chance that it will be cold, pack everything that you will need to make you comfortable! Don't count on the fact that you can buy warm winter gear while there as we had to buy socks for our kids hands. All of the gift shops ran out of mittens!

Other than this rare instance, and this trip was still magical, it has been great weather and great crowds.

I wouldn't hesistate to go again at this time in a heartbeat.
