Disney at Easter - Huge mistake???

We have gone during Easter week once, and it wasn't a good trip...however, that was before TGM and planning. So as long as you have a plan, any trip to Disney will turn out good. :cool1:

WOW so many going...I vote we take over main street LOL. We are staying about 5 minutes away offsite. Got a great deal on a hotel so couldnt pass it up. We are doing Crystal Palace The Tues night after easter as we heard they were awesome.

We've been twice during Easter. Each time with with all of the kids in our family for Easter vacation. I have to echo what other posters have stated. It is one of the most crowded times of year that we've been. To have our entire family go at the same time, we didn't have a choice. But, it's Disney, so we deal and have a blast anyway! Just make sure you have all of your ADRs in order and with you and all will be fine.

We are going-but I am pulling my kids out of school. I know of no school districts in our area that have off...last year was a different story. Easter and Spring break were near each other Our schools are also off in April...I am not worrying-it is beyond our control. So have a plan and stick to the plan;)

We usually go Spring Break. This year, with Easter so early, Spring Break is the week before Easter. We're staying in Nashville.

So, does anyone have an opinion on whether there's an "advantage" to staying at a resort close to the parks? I originally had two rooms reserved at POP, but after reading this thread (and seeing that I've chosen one of the busiest times of the year to go!), I moved the reservation over to one room at the YC. I was thinking that I could avoid the lines at the bus stops and if the crowds at the parks became unbearable, I could walk (or run, depending on how stressed out I get! :goodvibes ) back to my room for a little R and R....

Has anyone done this and how did it work out?

Hi from Scotland :) With our schools over here even though Easter is early, the schools are not actually closed until 7th April this year for 2 weeks so that is when I am heading over to Disney!

I know this gets asked lots of times but looking at this thread it seems that maybe Easter and some Spring Breaks may be over so will the crowds be a bit lighter? Must admit to not being great in densely packed crowds :(

Spring break works best for us and unfortunately our next trip is 2 years away. After looking up my kids' spring break for 2010 it happens to fall Easter week (Apr4- Apr9) Apr4 is Easter and this will be the day we arrive (we may rearrange and arrive on Sat instead). As someone had said in an early post, a warm crowded WDW at Easter is better than the cold north!! We just always go in with a plan and we always have a good time. We changed it up and went this past August and it was extremely hot- so I would pick crowds over heat anyday! Spring break has been some of my best trips!!

I'm not sure exactly where the POP is located, maybe further away from Epcot or MK? But we are also at the YC and one thing is for sure, walking to Epcot and getting in the back gate, sure beats busses and lines to get into the main gate at Future World. So maybe you are better off, you are also closer to the Studios. Have a great time!:wizard:

We went last year over Easter and it was crowded. We are going again this year over Easter at the YC and can't wait. Our kids are 8 and 9 so we were able to skip some of MK which helped. Just plan on going at the opening of the park and use fast passes. We also never went to the parks with the extra hours. This seemed to help a lot. We were pretty much done with the major stuff by noon each day. We are in MN and FL anytime in the winter is fine. I will stand in any line as long as it is above 20 degrees! :cool1: Hope this helps!

My opinion is that you are probably better off at the YC. I agree with the logic of your thoughts and the other poster's thoughts. Being so close to Epcot and MGM would seem to me to be an advantage. You can also then jump on the monorail from Epcot to the TTC to get to MK.

Just armchair quarterbacking:surfweb:

Thanks for the affirmation! I was thinking it would make more sense to stay closer to the parks, but sometimes you need to "throw it out there to the DISsers" just to make sure!! :thumbsup2

I echo MsStinkerbelles' sentiments. My last 3 trips were all over Easter, including last year. I am going again over Easter in March. I just can't bring myself to take the kids out of school to go during another time of the year. Not only would they be swamped with homework, but their grandpa (my Dad) is the principal and he is not crazy on the missing school for Disney thing. Anyway, I would take Easter over any time at Christmas or over the Summer. Christmas is cool, but is MUCH more crowded, IMHO. :crowded: And as for summer, not only is it crowded with all those tour groups very rudely walking around chanting "Hooray Brazil" but it is so hot you feel like you are 10 feet from the sun. :faint: (Sorry, our last summer trip was a while ago and there were a ton of tours from South America. My son was a little over a year old and in a stroller at the time, and they knocked him over without a thought. CM's and security actually escorted the group from the MK. Tons of issues with tour groups and the summer in Disney.):sad2: :confused3 Easter is tons of fun, as long as you use your fastpasses and remember that you are on vacation, just go with the flow.:thumbsup2

Oh my Gosh - that is tooo Funny!! I totally forgot about that mini South American United Nations thing going on in the summer. We were there twice in summer and you are absolutely right - huge groups walking around in color-coded t-shirts, really getting in the way in a major way!:scared1: (hope I'm not being too politically incorrect, but it was annoying) We kept trying to avoid them, either by getting in front of or behind, but heavens, never in the middle - lol:eek: Anyway, just a good reason to be happy about going at EAster. - Thanks.

I just subscribed to TGM in hopes to make my Easter more manageable.
I think we can do it,its going to be great!!!

We've gone over Easter twice (last time in 2005) and yes it was very crowded both times, but since I had myself convinced it was going to be a nightmare:eek: I was actually pleasantly surprised to find it wasn't as bad as I thought. If you are smart about planning and making all dining ressies in advance ( a most when it is busy) you will be just fine. I do love going during low season, but we still had a wonderful time. The weather is also great and you can enjoy the water parks and your resort pool. Get to the parks early, take breaks and have a great time:)

That is exactly the way to go. Like I said in my last post, if you get there early, relax and enjoy yourself it is not a big problem. :thumbsup2 I know that I sound politically incorrect when I say this, but the crowds at Easter time are different than at Christmas or in the Summer months. There are a majority of either tourists from Great Britan or the U.S., so everyone understands the concept of standing in line, waiting for their turn, and enjoying their visit. I love going at Easter, and I can't wait! Only 49 days to go!!!:woohoo:

Oh my - I made the mistake of going Spring Break Week once when Easter was at the end of that week ----- NEVER AGAIN. The crowds were horrible!
