Jump over to the W.I.S.H. board for more help. It is a board about"We're Inspired to Stay Healthy" and there are tons on Atkins and other low carb followers. Several have recently returned from WDW and managed to lose weight while there.

As for me one great place to go (not on property) is Boston Lobster Feast. There are 3 locations: I-Drive,Hwy 192,and near the Fla.Mall. It is all you can eat seafood and most of it is not fried. There are lots of choices too!! There are also several of the same nation wide rest. chains like TGI Fridays,Ruby Tuesday, etc that are options.

As far as at WDW of course you can request no bun and some of the places now have veggie sides that can be substituted for the fries. At some of the nicer restaurants you can speak to the chef and they will be happy to work with the way of eating you are following. I have read that the restaurant in the Canada section is very good at this.

Anyway...go to the WISH board for more help. These folks are wonderful and a great inspiration. You might even want to join a challenge or "join" that board because you can receive lots of help ,motivation and understanding.

thanks to both, and congrats on the weight loss, sheila.

Hi
Just got back from WDW. My husband is an Atkins guy and he ate alot of Chicken Ceasar salads, Turkey legs and double cheese burgers without the bun. Also the buffets are great (we did Hollywood and Vine at MGM)
He did not feel that it was hard to keep on his diet, although he did sneak some cotton candy while in MK watching Wishes:p

I'm also on the Atkins diet. It was not hard at all to stay on the plan.

If you are staying on property, the food courts and restaurants will have things acceptable, get the omlet, leave the potatoes, etc.

The buffets were great places to eat and not cheat. I also was able to speak to the chef at the couple of restaurants we went to and they were most cooperative.

Enjoy!

I know this will be contraversial and I will probably be flamed, but here goes . . .

Why would anyone diet while at WDW? I ask this being a diabetic and an overweight person who religiously diets and exercises constantly to battle the bulge. However, while I am at the World for a few days each year, I splurge and forget my physical problems. Yes, I still walk and take my diabetic medicine, but when I go to WDW I want to have fun and a large part of the fun of being at WDW is eating the food. Why would it hurt to "blow it out" for a few days a year? If you are not dieting and exercising so you can enjoy a few days off while at WDW, why do it at all? I know some people have medical reasons to diet at the World (food alergies and such), but for Pete's sake people, live a little while at the World!

I guess it all depends on how going off ones diet makes them feel.

I'm on the Atkins diet and if I eat sugar or too many carbs I don't feel well. I sure would not want to feel awful while trying to enjoy my Disney vacation.

Actually my husband does not consider himself on a diet. He just has a new way of eating. He has been on a low carb (Atkins) program for over two years and it is now a way of life for him. He definately eats some favorites (pizza, french fries) but does not intened to go back to eating the way he used to.
So it isnt about denying or dieting, it is about trying to find low carb options in a high carb world!:p

Very well said....BRAVO!! :cheer2: :cheer2: I had some popcorn with my chicken wrap sandwich at lunch yesterday and that was okay. I also drank water instead of soda! Atkins NEVER says that you can't eat those carbs again, he says to learn to do it in moderation. I do have to be careful though, too many carbs makes me sleepy and sugar just makes me nuts!!
