Disney announces next possible princess movie

Ahhhh been waiting for the official announcement on this. Concept looks good. Maybe the Frozen milk will be dry by then for this to take off?

Not sure if the timetable has been set, but might this coincide with the opening of DVC rooms at Poly? Or at least close to.

But where will the ride fit into the World Showcase?

Well whichever Polynesian setting this ends up being in will most likely be an island...the UK is mostly an Island.:hyper:

Or

Morocco because nothing there makes sense at the moment anyway

Or

America because Hawaii is a state

They can justify it a few ways, all which will be stupid just like Norwendelle

No DVC will be completed next year the bungalows shovel be finished very early 2015 with the rest opening throughout the year.

Maybe this is why Disney got rid of the drum and fife group. Would a Polynesian meet and greet look OK in a colonial building?

Clements and Musker usually come up with great films. Can't wait to see more footage. I wish they would've sticked to Meander to animate the film, but I guess it is still too soon to use that technology for a full feature.

Have there been previous releases detailing this as a princess flick? The release here and from Disney blog just seem to say she's a spirited teenager. Not sure it matters much either way for the story, but seems possible they could tell a story of a girl who isn't a princess here.

The rumors before the the release was that she would be a polynesian princess and some articles on the web say that as well but the disney statement says what you said.

It will also goose bookings at the Aulani. Or should I say it will nene bookings. :earboy2:

Before the announcement, pieces here and there described her as the "daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators". Since the announcement, that description seems to be absent. You might be right....possibly not a princess at all.

character maybe a teenage girl but doesn't sound like a princess to me

I may be opening a can of worms here, but my initial reaction after reading the first article I saw on this film was, "Just because she's a Disney heroine doesn't have to mean Princess, does it?"

"Princess" has a lot of connotations, not all of which are good. How about "Heroine"? Or "Protagonist"?

Initial descriptions before the announcement said she was the daughter of a chief, which would make her a princess (of sorts). Since then, they may have tweaked the story. I think people automatically assume "princess" with they think about female Disney protagonists. Alice, Megara, Jane Porter, Esmeralda, Wendy Darling....even Tink....all great female protagonists, but not princesses. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that!
