Disney-MGM Studios: Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
Imported from Disneyland Paris, this ambitious new stadium show will be in the spirit of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. The focus will be on car and motorcycle stunts instead of Nazi warplanes and giant rolling balls, but like Indy, the show will incorporate volunteer audience members (which will, no doubt, lead to frantic pleas of "Ooh, ooh, pick ME!") and include copious explosions and death-defying moments. The show is scheduled to debut in early May.

Epcot: Soarin'
Disney Imagineers will be bringing another clone to Florida, the wonderful Soarin' Over California that has been wowing audiences at Disney's California Adventure park. To be located in The Land pavilion, the attraction will simulate hang gliding by lifting riders 40 feet into the air on a motion base, with their feet dangling, and immersing them in front of an enormous wraparound projection screen. The vehicles will move in synch with the projected images, which will include aerial flights over California landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite. If it sounds scary, be assured that even the most squeamish will find the ride quite gentle, yet exhilarating. This is a fascinating, wonderful new attraction technology, and Soarin' is sure to become as much of a hit on the East Coast as the California original. The attraction is scheduled to debut in early May.

The Magic Kingdom: Cinderellabration
If the pumped-up mayhem of Lights, Motors, Action! is intended for boys (and men with the dominant let's-blow-something-up gene--which is to say all men), then girls will get their sugar-and-spice-and-all-things-nice show with this new stage presentation. Picking up where the 1950 film ended, the show will feature Cinderella's coronation as an official princess. All together now: "Awwwwwwwww." On hand to cheer the newly crowned Cindy will be other Disney royalty, including Snow White, Aurora ("Sleeping Beauty"), Belle ("Beauty and the Beast"), Jasmine ("Aladdin"), and, of course, one beaming fairy godmother. This show originated at Tokyo Disneyland. Cinderellabration is scheduled to debut in early May.

Disney's Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest and Lucky the Dinosaur
Another mountain coaster is coming to Disney World, and this one sounds like it will hit new peaks. The E-ticket ride will feature an adventure through the Himalayan Mountains in pursuit of the elusive yeti. Like the Revenge of the Mummy coasters at the Universal parks, the trains on Expedition Everest will reverse direction for parts of the ride. The attraction is scheduled to debut later in 2006, but may be ready for soft opening previews toward the end of 2005.

Walt Disney introduced his revolutionary audio-animatronic characters nearly 50 years ago with the Tiki Birds (who are still chirping away in the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki room). The celebrated concept evolved into the lifelike Abraham Lincoln figure at the New York World's Fair in the 1960s, and animatronics now populate countless Disney attractions. Lucky, who debuted at Disney's California Adventure, represents the new wave of animatronics. A free-roaming creature, the dinosaur will wander the park's DinoLand U.S.A., and engage guests with actions such as sneezing, hiccupping, and signing autographs. (Hopefully, you'll be able to get your autograph book out of range before his dino-sized sneezes begin.) Lucky the Dinosaur is scheduled to debut in early May.

Sounds like early May is the time to go! Hope this helped on when attractions are opening! ::MinnieMo
