rules say:-
during a given use year a club member may ! per membership
either transfer or receive transferred vacation points but may not both transfer and receive transferred vacation points.

what happens when you have resale and disney points at different resorts with different use years.
do you get two different memberships?

If you have two contracts with different use years they are totally separate. It's essentially like you were two members. The only difference is DVC is a little more lax with some of the transfer rules when it's multiple contracts of a single member. This is handled on a case by case basis. There are really only 2 situations where this comes up. Those are when you need enough points to finish out a single night of a reservatin and for items like exchanges, adventure collection, CC, etc when you must furnish all points from a single contract. In these situations DVC is very flexible but you might have to talk to a supervisor. In most situations you can make separate reservations then link them without transferring.

Help me understand how this works. Let's say I have 50 points at VWL with May UY and 150 at SSR with Sept UY, and I want to stay at VWL. When can I book it?

When you book a resort has nothing to do with use year.

It has to do with your home resort.

In your example, you can use your 50 VWL points to make a reservation at 11 months, and add more nights to it at the 7 month mark with your 150 SSR points, subject to availability.

Or, to complicate the answer, you could bank and borrow VWL points to have 150 points available to you every third year and use all 150 at the 11 month mark for a VWL reservation.

We have two contracts, two resorts, two use years.

We bank one contract and borrow from the other to make our reservations all from one contract each year. This is easier to do if you have two contracts of roughly equal point totals.

To further complicate things, you could transfer you're SSR points to the VWL and use them all at the 11 month window even though that's not what the rules say.

Another strategy is to book at SSR resort at the 11 month window then at the 7 month window, change over to VWL if available.

Just one further point, and that's that all this "complication" that Dean and I added is due to the great flexibility of DVC ownership. So don't think of it as complicated, think of it as lots of options! :)
