Disney and Pregnant

Going first of December and just found out I'm pregnant. The 3 older DDS and I love the big rides and my DH doesn't. So I was wondering what rides I can still go on? Thanks

Me and my wife went in May on our Honeymoon and she is pregnant. ha, and were also from Phoenix AZ.

Anyways you can pretty much do any rides besides Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Thundermountain, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, maybe Star Tours.

It was a bummer that we couldnt hit the big rides but we still had a blast, we just spent time doing things wed never had time to before, like going to sit down for lunch at the Golden Horseshoe and watching Billy Hill, we mostly just relaxed and enjoyed the sights and sounds. Usually when we go were running from ride to ride, this time we relaxed and finally snagged great seats for Fantasmic and the Fireworks.

I've been having similar "issues" hehe, and I did a board search on this very topic yesterday! Pretty much the main consensus was that if you're within your first trimester, you can go on whatever you want to (the baby is so teeny tiny still and is well cushioned, no big belly to interfere with bars on the rides, etc). So thats what I am sticking to when we go in Oct.

After first trimester they avoided all rides with restrictions like star tours, space mtn, thunder mtn, matterhorn, indiana jones.

But really, you need to verify with your doc and consider your own past history. Good luck and have fun!

I have been twice while pregnant. Once in December in 2002, and I had just found out like a week prior to our trip, and once in June 2005, when I was 7 months pregnant. I went on alot of rides, the only ones I ever skipped out on where the ones with the restrictions, ex. Indy, Splash, SM, Star Tours, Matterhorn, BTMRR, and Roger Rabbit. The only other ride I did not ride that does not have the restriction (at least then it didnt) was Autopia, because of the bumpyness of it and the risk of getting rear-ended by the guests behind you. I dont think I rode anything in DCA, except some rides in Bugs Land.

Wow! Congratulations!

The ones I remember had health restrictions were: Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Autopia and Gadget's Go Coaster.

I'm not sure about CA - pretty much all we went on that trip were the Bug's Land rides (minus the pill bug cars).

yea pretty much what everyone is saying...i was 3 months pregnant during one trip and i couldnt do any of the bigger rides. i wouldnt do any bumpy rides either...i went on pirates and HM a lot! lol
and you can also ask or read the signs before each ride...they tell you wether or not its ok for pregnant ladies to go on

We just got back last night and I'm 6 months pregnant. The ones I know I avoided were Splash, Big Thunder, Indy, Space, Mattherhorn, Gadgets Go Coaster and in CA Adven. Screamin', Mullhulland Madness, Mailboomer, ToT(I'm sure there others). It helps though that one of my kids is too short for most of this and the one that is tall enough didn't want to go on them.

Autopia does have a restriction, but I talked to a CM and she said the concern is being rear-ended and hitting my stomach on the steering wheel. She said as long as I didn't sit right behind the wheel I'd be fine. So my DH rode in the car behind us and I had DD steer while I did the petal and it worked out great.

This Sunday will be my 2nd time going preggo.

Last time, I avoided all the big rides. The only other ride I went on that I wished I didn't was Roger Rabbit. It was very jerky, and when I got off, I said to myself, "That was a BAD idea!"

I was hoping it would be okay to go on Star Tours- I haven't been on that in years. Is it really that jerky?

I was pregnant on both of our trips to DL as a family. I remember seeing a sign posted at the waterslide at PPH advising pregnant women to keep away. I rode it anyway, and it was smooth. I think you have to use your own judgement for each individual ride, because some are not bad.

I did not go on Space mountain or any of the coasters on my first trip w/ the fam, because I was slightly further along. On our trip last year, I was barely pregnant. That makes a difference.

I found out I was pregnant with DS right after we had renewed Premium APs so we went multiple times during my pregnancy.

It can be a lot of fun as long as you plan your days out right. While there are many rides that you shouldn't ride (the Mountains, ToT, CS, etc.) there is still plenty to do. I rode all the dark rides, went to shows, met characters (it's great to get a "belly shot" with your favorite character and/or the castle to show your unborn child someday). And, you have every excuse in the world to eat your way around the parks!

Depending on the time of the year, you shouldn't plan to do an open to close kind of schedule, and you may need to head back to your hotel room for a mid-day break. Other than that, stay hydrated, relax and enjoy yourself. And, take the time to daydream about what it will be like to bring your child to DLR for the first time!

Wow thanks for all the great feedback. Well the family's favorite ride is SM and was wishing someone would tell me it was ok. Guess not. We are a commando, big ride (all the ones I wont be able to do) don't smell the roses DLR family. Guess we will have to try a to just enjoy the park, well theres a first time for everything. I have to admit that I'm sad that I can't ride TOT (we haven't been in 2 years )thats my favorite ride. Just means DH will have to take me back sooner than he planed.

Congrats on the pregnancy! You have had a lot of people give you great advice. The trip should be fun, even if you have to go easy on the wilder rides. I say you should start planning your next trip as soon as you get back! Maybe 9 months from now????

BTW, we lived in Mesa (Stapley & Southern, when Wal-Mart was still farm land) before we moved to Oregon

I was going to ask the same thing today. I'll be pregnant during our trip, so I'm really glad I found this thread!

So I didn't see anyone mention Soarin' in the list of restricted rides. Does anyone know for sure if it's alright or not?

When we went, I didn't see any warnings on the sign, so I asked the CM who was working there. He said that they left it up to the guest's judgement, and although it is normally a smooth ride, since it is mechanical, unpredictable things could happen and they wouldn't be responsible for that. I wonder if they would say that about any ride if you asked, for liability reasons. I went on it and didn't have any problems.

Soarin was only listed b/c of the nausea factor, and it is not listed on the website as a restricted ride anymore. I think if you don't get queasy easily, its fine.

I actually had a conversation w/ some CMs on our first family trip to disney, regarding the Splash Mountain ride. They said they wouldn't stop a pregnant lady from riding, but that the individual had to do it at their own risk. Sort of. Since I'm not pregnant for the first time in several yrs, I intend on going on all the fast rides. I did ride Space Mountain last year, but I was also not far along at all.
