Disney Alaska cruise departures from Seattle WA?

Was on the Cruise from Seattle a few 4th of Julys ago. We did the garden tour at Victoria Island. It went long, we didnt get back to the ship till about 10:30pm, ship was waiting for us to leave. : )

At first I was bummed about the extra cost of getting to Vancouver, but now that I learn more about the city, I'm really excited to visit! We're planning an extra couple of days before our trip to explore Vancouver and I can't wait.

Only one more year to go! :P

When we were planning, I was SHOCKED to see some of the really great prices offered on Air Canada into Vancouver. They were offered early - like 10 months out. It wasn't long before they were gone. It was only slightly more than flying into Seattle.

Unfortunately, I don't believe Air Canada flies to Austin, Texas. We have not a lot of choices at smaller airports. :) It's going to be a killer deal for us to fly into Seattle on Southwest and then take the train in. On the way home, I'm thinking we're going to have to do American via Dallas. The running joke here in Texas is that when you die, you have go through Dallas on the way to heaven. I believe it. :P

Ha. We feel the same way generally since all the good flights leave from D.C., which is about 2 hours from us. So much to do in BOTH Seattle and Vancouver! I've heard that train ride is beautiful.

We sailed the Celebrity Solstice at the end of June out of Seattle and LOVED it. Amazing ship and great itinerary. Not sure on the previous comment about rough seas leaving Seattle as we had no problems with that at all. Only short port visits you have with the Solstice is that Tracy Arm and Juneau are the same day so you do Tracy Arm in the morning and then get to Juneau sometime after lunch. Then you have the 6pm - Midnight stop in Victoria on the way back.

Seattle is a popular port for Alaska cruises. However, ships that sail round trip from Seattle (or any US port) have to make a port call at a foreign port, and most do so in Victoria. It's a short stop - usually from ~6 or 7 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. On DCL - the port stop in Victoria had the ripple effect of having to depart from Ketchikan (and Juneau, I think) earlier. By departing from Vancouver, DCL spends more time in the ports, plus it has the more scenic sailing between Vancouver Island and the mainland.
But doesn't DCL (and other ships) do this all the time? San Diego cruise to nowhere? Hawaii?

The DCL Hawaii cruises this year are one-ways between Canada (Vancouver) and the U.S. (Honolulu). The roundtrip cruise to nowhere from San Diego doesn't stop at any ports, so no foreign port stop is necessary.

And the cruises to nowhere are no longer being offered, since they've been determined to be illegal without a foreign port stop OR having a large US crew onboard.
