Hi everyone. We're preparing to pick excursions for our trip in August and trying to figure out how to tell if we can do more than one per day. How can we tell when the excursions run so we can tell if we can schedule 2 or even 3?

Specifically we're looking at

Skagway.... 7:15am - 7:45pm Port times and were trying to do
Dogsled / helicopter (sw20) 2.5 hours and
Zipline at Grizzly falls (sw23) 4.5 hours

Juneau.... 6:45am - 4:45pm Port times and we're trying to do
5 Glacier Seaplane (JU48) 1.5 hours
Whale watching (JU43) 4.5 hours
Tram (JU37)

Ketchikan..... 11:15 - 7:45 Port times and we're trying to do
Bering sea fish tour (KE28) 3.5 hours
Lumberjack show (KE40) 2 hours
Duck tour (KE49) 2 hours

First how can we tell if this is even feasible, second if there are different times to do these i.e. fly in the am vs pm), lastly are these good excursions? DW is being a little overzealous in scheduling! (Two adults and two kids (14 and 12).)

Thanks!

In a word: no. You don't have time for all of that. I know, it's SUPER hard to narrow it down, but I think you're a little over ambitious here and I don't think you'll be able to book all of these through Disney as you're definitely going to have some overlapping times here.

You may be able to maximize your time by booking some or all of these outside of Disney. In addition, you may be able to find some tour operators that can combine things for you. I will say that the tram in Juneau is something you can do on your own. You don't need Disney for that and you can pop it in if the weather is good and you have some extra time.

I've read mixed things about the duck tour in Ketchikan and again, I don't think you have time for all three of those things anyway.

Are you spending any time in Vancouver? There's a lumberjack show at Grouse Mountain that is great and you could cross that one off your list.

In Juneau, I don't think you need a 4.5 hour whale watching trip. We did 2.5 hours and it felt just right. We booked through Rum Runners.

You won't be able to tell what the times are for excursions until your activity booking window opens. Once it does, you need to look at each excursion and see what time(s) they are being offered at.

Note - if trying to book more than 1 DCL excursion, the DCL system won't let you book excursions that the end time of the first and the start time of the second are within something like 2 hours of each other.

The DCL System won't allow you to book excursions if they are within 90 minutes (I recently just booked excursions for 7/24 9-night Alaska and tested that timeframe). For the excursions we were looking at doing, there were very limited opportunites to book two. For Ketchikan, we knew we wanted to do the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman Tour and a flight plane. To avoid a conflict, I booked the Bering Sea tour directing through their website. The tour is cheaper (about $30/person) and it was easy to book--you have to select the ship name, date you will be there and then they give you the tour time. Our tour time was 7:30 (I had no clue what the DCL times would be but turns out it is the same time). Then through DCL we booked the flight plane at 1:00 (as it turns out the Bering Sea tour is set to end at 11:15 so if we booked it through DCL we could have booked the flight plane too as that was 1:00). I should mention, when booking direct through Bering Sea Crab Fisherman tour you do need to pay in advance but there is a 100% refund if you need to cancel (I think it was up to 1 week in advance).

Sparky47 we are going on the 9 night cruise in 2018. If you have time could you please see if DCL would allow you to book the Klondike Campfire Breakfast in the morning and than the White Pass Scenic Railway that afternoon?

You should have no trouble booking both of those if the times stay the same. The Klondike breakfast is from 7:00 to 9:00; the White Pass excursion is at 12:00.

I would skip the lumberjack show - especially if you can go to the one in Vancouver. The one on Grouse Mountain is WAY better and "free".
