Disney airline passengers will be diverted to Ontario (sort of)

What a strange article. Er, Opinion. Wonder who wrote it? There's no signature on it. It's like something someone put in a Suggestions box.

I did see those FlyAway buses while waiting on the Grayline and they looked really cool, but, here's another idea, why not just urge Grayline to go to ONT as well?

Strange article...

I agree. Not quite sure I get it. . .:confused3 I would, however, like to see some affordable transportation options from ONT airport.

Ontario airport isnt a very popular airport to fly to. Im assuming that its not worth having air shuttles from that airport since not a lot of ppl fly there that want to go to Disneyland.

It would be nice!

There are no affordable options, so no one flies there. I did fly in there Dec of '07, because the flight was such a good price. I didn't do all of my homework, and thought the shuttle prices were the same as from SNA. D'oh! Very very very much higher. And b/c Super Shuttle has only a "first passenger is this crazy price, second passengers much more reasonable" pricing structure, the fact that hubby flew in apart from us meant we paid TWO first passenger fees. Double-d'oh.

So if they priced it right and advertised the better pricing, having better shuttles or more shuttles could draw people there...though honestly the drive was *frightening*, more frightening than the usual Supershuttle drive, and it would have to be wildly LOW in cost to get me to do that again.

I'm not an airport aficinado but wouldn't it be prudent to find out how much flight traffic Ont gets. I mean,if all the major airlines use LAX or SNA,what's the point? :confused3 I flew into Ont 2yrs ago b/c ExpressJet used Ont as their SoCal stop. Nice little airport btw. :thumbsup2

It's not a bad little airport. It's the closest airport to where my parents live, so we used to fly in there fairly frequently (before we had to pay for four roundtrips :scared1: and started driving more often). I definitely prefer it to Burbank which is the closest airport to where my parents-in-law live. In reality, it's really not much further than LAX - just 1.1 miles further (seeAirport Proximity to DLR and Ground Transportation Information). If they added in a Disneyland Express, I would consider it in my calculations for flying/ground transportation costs. The costs really aren't that much different than LAX, it just doesn't occur to me to look at Ontario! If they were to give some additional options for getting to DLR, I'd certainly factor them in next time I'm making my flight reservations.

I liked the Ontario Airport small and manageable. I used Alaska Airlines that year. Renting a car was difficult they were all off site, so you had to know who you wanted to rent from. Having a FREE bus like WDW does would be cool. Or the Disneyland Express Bus.

We used to fly into ONT a lot. Both my DH and I like how calm and quiet the airport is, plus with flying American, we always had great schedules to and from the airport.

I think ground transportation is the number one detriment to ONT, shuttles and rental cars are more expensive here than at any other airport in the region. Yes, it is a longer distance, but so is LAX. If flight cost is the comparable, then I'd rather fly ONT because the drive is actually quite pretty coming down from ONT. You wind through the foothills and experience better views. The drive into LAX takes us through some of the dingiest, rattiest freeways and crumbling urban sprawl that L.A. can offer. I can only take so much low-talent graffiti. ;)

I was trying to get to Ontario also..to get on the train there. It looked like the train station was pretty close to the airport, but it was pretty hard finding reasonable transportation there. I just hate going to Union Station..I ended up taking the train from Anaheim to Union Station though (or would have if the stupid thing hadn't not opened doors and left without me. Just an FYI..it is $75.00 for a taxi from the Anaheim train station to Union Station)
