I acutally have asked people why they are going to the same beach again or why they are going camping again.....but ONLY after they ask me "why are you going to Disney again?" They try to tell me its too expensive. So I asked my friend who goes to the beach every year how much she spends at the beach and she told me between $3000 and $5000. I said wow, thats a nice disney trip!!! then I commence to telling her about the price it takes for our family of 4 to go and how the dining plan works so well for our family and the cost of getting down there (we drive) and all the souvies and what not and its still less than the $5000 that she spends at the beach. She hasnt believed me yet!!!! I just dont get some people...
So funny, that sounds like my inlaws with their Cape Cod vacation. They act like it's such a cheap trip since they rent a cottage. Um, no. It's the cottage rental, the food, the out to dinner every night, the gas you use up while there, the other places you go, the fact that you feel compelled to go shopping every night, etc.... it all adds up and you can't just look at the price of the cottage rental as the whole expense. We would spend more there for our family of five, soon to be six than we do at WDW. I know because we've done it and we've priced it out since our kids have gotten bigger and we need more space.
MIL desperately wants us to go, they've been taking this same vacation since DH was a little kid and they meet other family there. I agree, it's nice to get together with extended family but we looked into going this year and staying for just three days- Sunday through Tuesday, Sunday and Tuesday really being half days since we have a four hour drive. By the time we figure in gas to and from CT, two nights hotel (nothing fancy even, just a Holiday Inn), food, etc.... we're looking at $1000-1500. I can't justify that when we have WDW a week later and for $5000 we're staying at the Contemporary for 11 days, have the dining plan and have 10 day park hopper tickets. To me, that's a much better value for our money.
Same here....we don't even talk about our upcoming trips anymore with people outside our Disney circles because I'd rather not hear it.
LOL, we've resorted to just telling people we're going to Florida. I have family there and let them presume that we're visiting family the whole time or most of the time. It saves me the speech about "Disney?? again???"
