Disney Adventure Planning Thread

Has any one of you booked a transfer from hotel to port or the other way around? We are considering a few nights at the Shangri-La Sentosa before the cruise and I saw that it’s one of the hotels bookable through DCL, so it should offer transfers.
In Singapore it's very easy and safe to get a GRAB it's like Uber but better with newer cars. Shangri-La Sentosa it's a lovely resort but it's more family orientated with lots of kids around
Depending on what you want to do when in Singapore it's also a bit more isolated at night there are no many restaurants around, and one of the best part of Singapore is food and the food courts!
Shangri-La Sentosa is great if you want to have a resort style holiday to relax, lots of locals go there for that reason, not great if you want to experience Singapore.

In Singapore I suggest depending on your budget Shangri-La Singapore, Paradox, Suiss and Fairmont hotels, Mandarin oriental, and more budget but still very good the far east hospitality hotels.

We will have another 6 nights in Singapore after the cruise, this is just a little break for relaxation after 8 days in Hong Kong.

Thanks for the hotel tips! And we are usually fine with public transport and such, but there is a nice element to having your cruise start at your hotel. We loved that at WDW last April, so are considering it for this cruise as well, depending on price. It usually also gives you a lower boarding group.

I understand.

Keep in mind that Shangri-La Singapore Will also give you that resort vibe, especially if you choose the granden rooms but will be more centrally located near Orchard.

On Sentosa a less kiddy kind of resort is also the W which is very good but a bit more isolated.

Finally don't forget to book Jumbo for the Singaporen chilly crab a must with the bread!

No crab for me unfortunately: shellfish allergy! But these are great insights! Thank you so much!

I would still recommend trying Jumbo it's great food a bit more expensive but great.

Maxwell and old airport are also my favourite food courts.

Also be mindful when you are there if you are allergic to shellfish as they predominantly use fish sauce, oyster sauce and shrimp paste in their cooking.

Good point! I am usually fine with fish sauce and oyster sauce in Asian cooking. Shrimp paste sounds more dangerous! Will need to look out for that! I am not severely allergic, but don’t want to chance anything.

One thing I would recommend is to have a printed, laminated card with your allergies (and their severity) translated into the 2-3 most common languages for each place you’ll travel— in your case, I might also include a shrimp image with a big strike through it, just to be extra safe.

Do you reckon it will massively impact the following cruises as they will be super busy?what's everyone thinking what a news what about those who purchased the flights

I’m super, super bummed. We already have flights booked to Tokyo, Australia, and Singapore and I doubt it will be easy to change them (also have kids excited for a few days there pre-trip)...to say nothing of the time we spent researching, prepping and making onboard booking requests.

Our work/school calendar does not allow us to fly to Singapore again in the next 6 months after our planned NYE trip…and not sure we want to do Christmas in APAC two years in a row with the grandparents getting older. So went from some of the first sailors to we probably won’t make it on the Adventure in its maiden season at all.

I am so sorry!!!!

I feel sorry for those who have already bought plane tickets! Personally, I've been thinking about changing the dates, but I'm not sure if I will, as I have a birthday in April and wanted to tie the trip to the celebration. I don't think the March and April sailings will be significantly different in terms of busyness, they just will be booked faster than they should have been. But im may be wrong. I will from now on take more close look on the availability of the april sailings.

Now I'm really wondering why this happened. My guess is that something was discovered during the tests at sea. It's a bit concerning that something so significant was discovered that the first voyage had to be delayed by as much as three months. It would be helpful if the company could share more information so that people wouldn't have to speculate and guess.

Just woke up and saw this. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. We had added this on at the beginning of 6 weeks abroad. We have a 4 day gap now in our itinerary. We could either change our flights at a cost of thousands of dollars to us, or add on more hotel nights, also at a cost of thousands more to us. Either way, it is significantly more than what we were paying for the cruise. Not to mention the fact that we were going on the cruise. A 50% reduction on a future cruise is just not as valuable to us.

Ok, my retirement trip will now be different :) Had flights and hotels from USA to Singapore for the Jan 5 cruise. Then off to Tokyo Disney, Hong Kong Disney and Shanghai Disney…I can change the dates of our flights for a small fee. Don’t really want to spend 3 extra nights in Singapore. Thinking instead of sailing on Ovation of Sea from Royal Caribbean which departs the same three days. Then I can keep all my flights and hotels. Plus get to hit Malaysia :) All things considered I am sad to not sail on the Adventure and doubt I will ever go back to Singapore, but will still make this an excellent trip. It’s been fun planning and being excited. Plus 50% off a future cruise - maybe I can afford Alaska now :)

I am glad that someone was not totally inconvenienced! It’s such a bummer for so many people. You at least came up with a decent alternative.

With 50% off Alaska should be pretty affordable. We cruised early August when prices started to go down and thought it was an excellent time frame.
