Just wondering if its something worth saving for but it sounds like it is just hope the celebration continues into summer vacation

The 25th went on for 15 months so I'm pretty sure it'll last long enough for everyone to enjoy.

Yes, that's right.
You can book a room at 499 days, no rates locked in of course. Those are usually released in June or so of the year before.
And based on what DL did for their 60th, and what all WDW is already starting on for the 50th sprucing, I too think they'll do it up right.
Just no idea exactly what it will be. Just that it will be a shindig that we won't miss out on

I liked it the first few months too, oh, isn't that cute. But it was that way for 16 months. I had enough after about 6 months and wanted my beautiful castle back.

I can certainly remember the dates because Sept. 7, 1996 was my official first day at WDW and it wasn't a cake yet. It debuted on Oct 1st.

Well I'm turning 50 2 weeks after WDW turns 50 so there's that...

I turn 50 a couple of months before WDW myself. Tentatively, that's my next Disney vacation. Hopefully all the new attractions will be up and running by then.

Yes they stretch out big celebrations beyond 12 months. This will be a huge event at WDW and all of the construction going on now is a preparation for it.

Who remembers the 15th anniversary and the prizes awarded to someone entering MK every 15 seconds?

I thought it was ugly. And why Disney would deface a park icon, I have no idea. I'm equally as glad the arm is off of Spaceship Earth, and the hat is out of the Disney Studios. Some things shouldn't be messed with.

I hope they do it up right. Hopefully the DL 60th anniversary success will teach them how a good product can be beneficial for both them and their guests. But DLR has tons of repeat business from the locals who hold their feet to the fire. Traditionally WDW has not been as concerned with the repeat guest, and I think that leads to a lesser product. Let's hope that's not the case with the 50th.

As mentioned, room only can be booked 499 days in advance of check-in. So if you want to arrive on October 1, 2021, (the official WDW birthday - and mine as well), Then you could make a reservation on May 20, 2020.

I think the good news is now, whatever the turn the castle in to, most of it will be done with projections.
Though, you gotta admit, the DL 60th castle was beautiful. At least we thought it was.

WDW has a tough act to follow. Was anyone here at the 50th celebration in DL of the actual date it opened? DS was fortunate enough to be in on-stage entertainment that day, and it was incredible. People lined up early in the morning, there was a huge ceremony at 10:00, someone from the original opening attended (was it Bob Hope? He was alive at the 50th)? So WDW had better do something big.
