Trying to decide if we should take our boys ages 4 and 6 now before the baby is born or wait and go in December and take the baby along? What are your experienced thoughts?

Personally, I would go pregnant. I did that when I was expecting my twins, and we had a great time. I had to rest a bit more, but my son LOVES the fact that he had a trip to Disney without his sisters. I know that you already have two children, so the circumstances are a little different.

I've never been to Disney with a baby, so I can't share any experiences with that, but, I would rather go pregnant. I did it at five months with twins, and like I said, we had a BLAST.

Aside from that . . . I personally am too much of a germ phobe to take a four month old to the mall, let alone Disney, LOL!

I would go with the baby. If you're pg and sick, you're stuck. If you're pg and have a complication...you're stuck. If you're pg there are lots of rides you can't go on. With a baby you can either do baby swap or take the baby on most rides.

I've been there with a very portable 5 month old, and would do it again in the same situation.

What time of year are you talking about? I guess it would depend on that for me. I wouldn't go in the summer, too hot and too crowded.

If you have wonderful pregancies then going while pregnant wouldn't be too bad, but like others have said, you're limited to which rides you can go on.

I've taken a 6 mo before and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. She was much easier than my 4 and 7 yo. There is also an advantage to bringing the baby if you do the child swap, bc your kids will be able to ride on those rides twice or even 3 times if you pick up fast passes at the sametime you get your child swap pass.

I just went with my kids DS3 and DD4 and I was 3 months pregnant. I also went when I was 3 months pregnant with my first. I would definitley go pregnant rather than with a baby. If you bring the baby you have to lug around so much gear, stop for feedings, changing diapers, etc. Just seems like way too much work. For me, going pregnant was no big deal at all. There were a couple of rides I couldn't go on but for the most part most Disney rides are so tame, that they're aren't many you have to miss. Plus those aren't the ones you're kids would probably want to go on anyways at their ages. I was tired by the end of the day, but so were the kid sso we all just pretty much went to bed at the same time. From you other pregnancies, you might have an idea whether or not you will be very sick or tired, luckily I had no morning sickness with any of mine.

I went when I was 7 months pregnant with DD6 and DD4. We had a great time. No bottles or diapers.

I've been w/a 7 month old. I've been w/a 1.5 yo and 4/5 months pregnant. I've been w a 2 yo and a 5 month old.

I loved going w/the 7 month old. I liked going w/the 1.5 & pg. (I have very bad pregnancies, throw up the entire time, leg pain etc.) I HATED going w/the 5 month old. It is so hard if they baby cannot sit up at all. I was so surprised at how much harder 2 months made!

So if it were me I would go 3 months pregnant.

If you are nursing, the baby is carried in a sling, and it's not too hot, going with the baby should be fine. You can nurse on all those dark rides and no one would notice. Just make sure the baby doesn't overheat. If you are using bottles, then you have to think about whether or not it is worth it.

Once the third comes, your life changes. You may want to go before the baby and make a big deal about how you wanted to do this for your other kids. Then have them each pick out a gift for the baby.

I went when I was around 4 months pregnant and had a great time. I was able to go on more than I thought I would. My pregnancy was really smooth and I didn't have any sickness. I am now getting ready to take DD who will be almost 11 months. I know it will be a completely different trip again but we're excited!

Thank you for all the advice. This will be the third time going for us, so it's not like mine haven't been before, but it would be fun to go one last time before the baby comes. I am really sick right now, but in the past it has gone away in the second trimester. We would either be going in Feb/March or December, so it shouldn't be too hot either way. My guys are not thrill seekers so they don't ride the fast rides, but baby swap would be good after the baby is born for the couple of rides that DH and I like that I wouldn't be able to do pregnant. We were thinking we would like to take advantage of the kids clubs, this would be the first time my youngest is old enough. I'm going to keep thinking on it a little bit longer, but I have to decide soon.
BTW, I tried to talk DH into both, but he didn't seem to go for that.

I was curious about this, too....As you can see, we are going. I do like the idea about letting the kids choose gifts for the baby! And I'm praying this nausea goes away in....oh, like 13 days. I want to enjoy the food! My OB agreed today....go pg, not with a newborn (she's had 4 kids)....the older kids would enjoy it more.

Either way, it can't be "bad"!!! It's Disney!

KariC,
Good luck to you. I hope you feel better soon! I haven't thrown up in a day in half so maybe I'm on the mend. Let me know how it goes for you. Like you said, either way it's Disney!

We went when my youngest was 9 mos old and it was easy. We did the baby swap and I got to go on everything I wanted, rides there was no way I could do pregnant. Plus my other kids got to take turns going twice because I could take one of them with me when we switched.
My son slept most of the time and there were plenty of rides we could bring him on. He was free admission, that was a bonus. LOL. I thought having a 9 mos old was much easier than my 3 yr old was at the time.
I'd definately go with the baby and then YOU could enjoy all the attractions as well.

We're hoping to go in late Nov./early Dec. I'm due in June so the baby will be around 6m.o. There's no way I would ever go when I was pregnant as I wouldn't be able to enjoy some of my favorite rides with my other kids like Tot, Exp. Everest and Space mtn. To me it would be a waste to spend $$$ on a ticket and not be able to go on my fav. rides, I guess it depends on what type of rides you prefer to go on. Have fun whatever you decide!

We took our daughter when she was 4 months old and my sons were 3 & 5. She was pretty easy. I both bottle fed and breastfed whenever I could. The best place I found to breastfeed was on the Transit Authority. Thanks to hubby I now have that on video too. :rolleyes1 I wasn't quite finished and we told the CM at the end of the ride that we wanted to just stay on it which he let us. It was nice and relaxing. Yes, there is a lot you have to bring but I'd do it again.

I've never gone to Disney while pregnant, but I have gone with an almost 4 month old and a 7 month old, and both trips were really pretty easy, especially with the younger baby. I don't think I would do it when it's really hot, but both of my baby trips were in November so it was perfect, not too hot, not too cold. I breastfed my babies so they were very portable, there was not too much extra to tote around, but even with a bottle fed baby I don't think it would be too hard.

On the contrary, I never really felt that great during my pgs and I know I would not have had the energy to really enjoy the trip, let alone it would be frustrating to go and not be able to do the bigger rides that I enjoy. If it were me, I would take the trip with the new baby.

Whichever you decide, have a great time and congrats on the upcoming new baby!

Good for you for going either way! I've heard so many people say they wouldn't EVER even consider going pregnant OR with a baby (in some of their opinions, anything under 3 years old was "a baby").
I went at 3-4 months pregnant with both my 1st and 2nd DDs and was fine. The whole missing the rides thing was no big deal. Actually it kind of forced me to see and do some things that I wouldn't have ever taken the time to do before (and now really like seeing those things time and time again). Plus, most of the rides are so low key you can go on them. I was never sick with either pregnancy though, so I guess maybe those who say don't go pregnant had different or difficult pregnancies.
As for the baby thing, my DD (now 5) first went when she was 5mo. And my other DD (now 2) first went when she was only 2-3 mo. As long as you can be flexible, it's great. Actually traveling with an infant was easier than traveling with a 1-2 year old IMO. Tiny babies sleep so much it doesn't matter if they sleep in a stroller, on your lap in a ride, or by the pool under an umbrella. Plus, since I wasn't nursing, we could do bottles anywhere...in a line, watching a parade, etc. HUGE TIP- (if your doing formula) take those little travel pack sticks, pack a couple bottles, and just buy a bottle of water at the parks. This was great for me! It was so much easier than carrying around a small baby/bottle cooler with pre-made bottles! Throw in some diapers and wipes and you're set! I know, I know, there's more stuff to take for babies, but mine is now 2 years old so I have conveniently blocked out that exhausting part of her/my life I think:rotfl: But really taking a baby is fine!

We took our 6 month old and 3 year old in 2003. The baby was so easy to manage in the parks. I brought a small pillow and blanket to make sure he was comfortable in the stroller. He happily watched everything as we went around the parks. My husband and I took turns riding with my 3 year old. One highlight of the trip was at the Baby Changing room in MK. Princess Aurora and Cinderella were in there and I have pictures of them holding my son and kissing his cheek . He loves to look at these pictures now. My other son was upset that he missed out on seeing the princesses. We really had a great time with the baby there. Have a great trip either way!

We went when I was 12 weeks pregnant and while it was nice that it was just the two of us. It was a horrible trip for me. I was very sick and dry heaving everywhere. I got irriatable and needed a nap everyday around 3. I didnt have a good time since well I couldnt go on a lot. We had a good time but Im much MUCH more looking forward to going this year with DS who will be almost 6 months old.
