Hi,
We are planning a Disney trip for 2015 and were debating whether to go on the week of 5/2 or 10/17
We went last year over the 4th of July and my husband made me promise we will never go in summer again.
Any suggestions of which week is better? We are planning to book DVC and were thinking we need to book around 10 months ahead
Thanks

We're planning a trip for October. As a teacher, I can get away from school in October, but not May because of all of the end of year testing that gets done. Also, my DH has never been so I want to go at a non-peak (is there even such a thing at Disney anymore?) time of the year. We're looking at the last week of September/first week of October time frame.

We are planning our first Disney trip for late September/early October 2015. I considered crowds and weather and where the kids would be in the school year. Better for the kids to catch up early in the school year than later imo. My BIL and his family want to come the same time we are going but they are pushing for August, not a chance I will be going in that heat!

Next year is our DS last year before starting school, so we re good on that sense
I am wondering when is the Esther better may or October, we will like to enjoy pool time by DH does not like the heat

We went for the first time last May. The weather was warm but not too bad. We're from Louisiana so we're use to the heat. DS was in kindergarten and we made the decision for him to miss the last 4 days of school. For us those days are usually half days anyway so he didn't really miss anything. The last day we were there it got HOT. I would never go in the peak summer months! We are thinking about about going back in 2015 around the same time. We also were there before the memorial day crowd.

If you choose October, don't go into it thinking it will be great weather and low crowds. It is still HOT and even though it's not a peak time, it can be very crowded. I would suggest avoiding Columbus Day (week) and Halloween week if you choose October - the first week is supposedly better for avoiding some crowds.

I haven't been in May since I was a child, but I would love to go for the Flower and Garden Festival. I don't mind October (the Halloween decorations are fun), but with so many schools on Fall Break, it's really not the bargain it once was.

Just got back from a May 7-13 trip. Never rained, and it reached 90 nearly everyday. Once you adjusted to the wall of heat that hit you stepping outside every morning it was not horrible. We loved May. The crowds were a little higher than we expected, but we are planning to go in May 2015 as well. Our son will be finishing up kindergarten in 2015. I am nervous about having him out of school, but I refuse to go in the summer!

We just got back from a May 12-16 trip. It was hot but not too bad. We had a one very rainy day and one day with a couple showers but the other three days it didn't rain at all. I didn't think crowds were that bad. The waits were reasonable except for the attractions that typically have long lines.

These are my two favorite times to go! My favorite is early October..We go from the last week of Sept. into the first week of October. Crowds are low, about 90 degrees everyday. It didn't rain at all when we went. When we went in May the temps felt about the same as Sept/Oct. and we only had one rainy day. If you decide October I would go as early in the month as possible, it gets busier as it gets closer to Halloween. And the same goes for May, the earlier in the month the less crowded it will be. Defiantly avoid Memorial Day weekend. They also have Star Wars weekend in May but only DHS gets busy for that..

I would say Oct. Weather, lower crowds and Halloween.

May - warmer, star wars, crowds maybe maybe not- depends when you go. End of month more crowds.

Given the choice of any time to go, I would go with Sept/Oct every time! I love, love, love the fall decorations. Perhaps I am just adjusted to crowds, but I never found the fall to be "crowded" (except for Halloween week), not in the same way that say...July 4th week is. Or Christmas. Or New Years. Those times are truly peak and crowded. The weather in May or October are about even, but October is hurricane season, so there is an opportunity for more rain.
