So here's my dilemma. We went to WDW for the first time last month and I am hooked. DH thinks I'm going crazy because I'm constantly on these boards looking at everything. Of course I'm already begging him to let me book for next year. The next trip, his mom is coming along with us. I really want to do the DDP so it will be costing us a bit more than last time. Last month's trip was a total of $2600. We drove down there, only had 4 ADR's and took plenty of our own food & drinks along. We stayed at Pop & I had $300 from my Disney rewards Visa to use.

I've already estimated the next trip to be around $4000 depending on gas prices and extras... this is not including any type of promotion that will "hopefully" pop up between now and then.

DH thinks it's dumb to go 2 years in a row. He wants to wait 2 years before we go again. He also would like to wait till Fantasyland is open so there's something new to see. So how would next fall be? It should be open by then and we're HUGE Halloween fans so I thought that would be great to see along with everything else.

DH is also demanding that he gets to spend an obscene amount of money on his car if we get to do this trip. My questions are... do you think it's going to be SUPER crowded next fall because of Fantasyland opening back up? or do you think it would be smarter to wait the 2 years like he wants to? I'm so torn... I would be willing to go twice if he'd let me but I know he won't. I have a feeling we'll be waiting 3 years if we get to go next fall... ugh. TIA!

At least he's willing to go again! My husband said "Why do we need to go again? I've already been". He went to DLR and WDW once each as a kid, to each again when we were newly married and to each again after we had kids. In his mind he's been there done that. The kids and I want to go again though! We went summer 2010 and I'm planning to go again summer 2012. I hadn't even thought about the Fantasy Land expansion issue. I say go next summer if you want and then go again in a year or two to see the new stuff. Your kids are only going to get older.

This is our third year in a row!! Your husband would hate me!!:lmao:

Could just you and the kids go? And then go with him again after Fantasyland opens? I would imagine when it first re opens it will be a bit busier than normal?

I think we are going to skip next year and then go again in 2013 (hopefully with a new baby!!)

Maybe compromise. Do a different trip next year, somewhere he may want to go and then do Disney in 2013.
I am always on these boards and get the urge to go back and try to figure out the pricing, etc., but then I remember there are so many other places in the world to see. Instead of doing Disney next year we are doing a cruise to Bermuda. Then maybe in 2013 we will get to disney for 4 nights for the christmas season. I really would like to see disney at christmas.

Your husband is saying he will spend an obsene amount of $$ if you go to Disney next year.....do you have obsene amounts of money? If you do, then go for it and enjoy. If not, I would work out a compromise.

This is making me :rotfl: I am the same way, except we spent a bit more than $2600 (that is fantastic, btw!!). I am dying to go back next year. My DH, thankfully, wants to go back too, but we are trying to be realistic about costs; we have to fly, so no matter what we start out spending between a grand and $1500 depending. My DH likes to stay deluxe (not that I have a problem with that, ha ha!!), and he would rather go back less frequently in order to afford it.

I think what we have worked out is that if a 40% off room rate comes out for our potential travel dates next year, we'll go. If not, we'll keep saving until 2013--and still hope for a discount of some sort, of course! ;) but we'll have longer to save if we have to pay rack rate.

not sure if that helps, but it's our tentative plan. good luck!!

This is at least our 8th year in a row. Sometimes you just have to go for the shear fantansy of it.

If you can afford it, then go! So what if everything is the same? It's a fantasy vacation!

Why bother going with him?

If he doesn't want to go don't force it. I find if I try to force someone to do something they really don't want to do then my whole time is spent wondering if they are having a good time and not enjoying myself.

I am a regular solo traveller. Been alone more than I have been with other people. Six times in a year. I will be there in December for two weeks. A lot of that time will be solo. So much easier to plan and cheaper.

You can fly down for pretty cheap, stay at a value and only have to feed one person. Your biggest expense could be your tickets.

Last time I went, stayed at a deluxe villa, had dinner at V&A's and flew down for about $1250. Of course I have an annual pass so I get those discounts.

I decided years ago to leave my husband at home....his idea of a fun vacation is going to Washington DC and watching them pass laws :rolleyes1 I have been at least once a year since 1998...I am ready to go anytime. I didn't go much when my kids were younger and I sure do regret it!!! Youngest DD was 11 before she went to WDW for the first time. I would not make that mistake if I had those 11 years to do over. I say go whenever you want to go and can afford it!!!

While most of the time I hate being single, this is one of the good parts. I can go to Disney as often as I decide I can afford to and nobody argues with me about it. I'm going back in early November and that will be my fourth trip in just over a year. And I love it every time I go.

Yes, there are other places to go and I do sometimes go to other places (in fact I'm just back from a week in BC). But Disney is magical for me. I feel happier and more relaxed there than anywhere else. And I will continue to go as often as I can.

We go 3 times a year so... once a year to me not so crazy! Its not about the attractions for us it's about the MAGIC!

UH OH, you are HOOKED :rotfl: take a peek below at our visits and you'll see that there was a BLIP, I was in chemo and could not go but made up for that by living Disney vicariously thru the boards reading about everyone elses trips  what a long wait that was for me...I hoped I would be able to return some day....while I fought that battle.
And I did get to return :cheer2::cheer2: and BEAT Cancer too:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
But the point is, once HOOKED, watch out, it is in your system and cannot be removed...:dance3:
As a lover of all things Disney I "see" different things each time I go, whether its restaurants, experiences, rides (even at diff times, day/nights), there is so much to do and see, even relaxing, catch a movie, do a water park, visit some resorts, go in a hotair balloon, fish, swim, shop, golf, Disney Quest, mini golf....OH, there is MUCH to see and Do, ya just gotta look for it...perhaps if you explain how much there IS, he'd be more open to it, OR he'll just be a fab Guy that goes because YOU love it (as my dh does!)
I hope you get to go again, real soon, there really is no other MAGICAL place on Earth! :woohoo:

I think if I knew I was going 2 years from now, it wouldn't bother me that I wans't going again next year. I know there are alot of poeple here to do not get sick of Disney, but I like to mix it up and there are some beautiful places to see here too, that DH and I like visit on our off Disney years.

Plus, we like to pay cash for our vacations and I don't think we would want to shell out that kind of money year after year...or even multiple times a year.

I'll be going for a 3rd time this year in August!:goodvibes
When the kids were little we went once ever 3 or 4 years. Now that they are older and we have higher salaries we go at least once a year.

If you can afford it I'd go for it, but I think you should just leave it alone for a bit. You haven't been back for your last trip for very long. Your husband might start thinking about going again after a bit. I find that after about 6 months or so people start wanting to go back again.

The fall is a great time. They have MNSSHP (Mickey's not so scary halloween party) at MK, and the Food and Wine Festivalat EPCOT!

We've got our 22nd WDW trip scheduled and my husband doesn't really like WDW. So we schedule someplace else in between each Disney trip that has to be somewhere we've never been before. The new adventures (next one is going to the Amazon) keep him from hating the WDW trips.

Yes. And I also think that the entire Fantasyland expansion will not be completed by then.
do you think it would be smarter to wait the 2 years like he wants to?
Yes, I do think that it would be smarter to wait, especially since you husband feels that if you go spending on another Disney vacation then he is also entitled to spend equally on his car. It kind of shows how he feels that a Disney trip is only for you, given that the car stuff is (I'm assuming) only for him.

We go 1-2 times per year. I'm getting ready to leave for my 20th trip in ten years. There's never enough Disney!

We just did our 12th year in a row! There is always something new to see. I don't think Fantasyland will be bringing in the crowds and fall is a great time to go. I LOVE the MNSSHP but that also is extra $, still lots of fun! Sounds like you need to both be on board for this, maybe you can compromise and spend less on the trip and then he can spend $ on his car (which I'm assuming is just for him?).

I don't think you are crazy at all for wanting to go every year! I have been going just about every year since 1973 when I was only six months old! My parents started a love of Disney World from an early age, and we were lucky enough to visit almost every year! (had relatives in florida). I have now instilled that love in my own children and we go yearly! Yes, it is expensive but it is something that is important to our whole family and we put it in our budget every year! Your husband just has not developed his love for Disney yet! It took my husband a couple visits before he was hooked:) Now I think he enjoys it as much as me, and has even become the main planner! Good Luck!

I don't think it's crazy at all! Compromise. If he's willing to go next year, go somewhere else in 2013. BTW, when in the fall? I'll be there October of next year :)
