Hi all,

We just changed our upcoming reservation from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. We are attending MNSSHP so we figured the location would be better and we saved a bit of money. Adults only vacation. We booked a water view king room. What request would you put in? Upper floor? Lower floor? Anything in particular we should know?

Thanks as always!

Not sure what the right answers are for you but I can share out experience at WL in a King water view room this past January. First, we requested a high floor and they put us at the top which does have a nice view, however they are the balconies that that have their own roof and a tall, solid wall instead of a railing. We lile to people watch so that was a miss for us because when you sat down you could only see the top of the roof across the way and the sky. Seeing anything else with the view meant standing. Second, the king room was very spacious and we're going again later this year for a week staying in a king water view, adults trip this time, and attending a Halloween party all because we liked the resort so much. The boat ride to MK was quick and fun and having stayed at GF and CR recently we felt the bus transportation from WL was way better than the Monorail and buses from those resorts. Third, there are two elevators in the main WL side so no matter where you are on your floor you will have an elevator nearby. The one further from the lobby takes you right to the laundry too which was also a plus.

I think the only negative we had was some of the food choices. We liked the QS and Geyser Point but the two sit down restaurants are not are thing. We did not try Territory Lounge but look forward to doing that on this upcoming trip. With so many food options nearby and in the parks we didn't miss not having a sit down that appeals to us in the resort to be honest.

Thank you! We are thinking of requesting a high floor.

What will my water view most likely be of? The pool?
Yes, most likely it will be the courtyard, which includes the pool. A few rooms will be close enough to Bay Lake to have a good view of the lake. But most rooms will just be courtyard view rooms. Our water view room overlooked the seating area for Roaring Forks, which wasn't close to the lake.

We could see the lake from our top floor room and it also looked straight down into the pool/courtyard. I can't say for sure if we could see the water pagent from there because we were in the parks late each night. By the time we got back to our room I was watching the cast members hose off the pool deck and the only things in the lake were the transport boats.

We were on the third floor near the end of the hallway. So we didn't have much view of the water other than the pool and courtyard—you had to crane your neck out a bit—but it was close to the stairs at the end of the hallway, which took you down to right outside the pool, so that was very convenient.

We liked the King room because the rooms at WL are smaller overall than some of the other deluxe resorts (with the exception of Animal Kingdom, which is similar), and the layout of the rooms makes it feel a bit larger because of the couch instead of another bed.

There are somewhat fewer dining options than perhaps other resorts. We did eat twice at Roaring Forks for breakfast, twice at Geyser Point for dinner (well, one was a later-night snack rather than a full dinner) and one afternoon snack/drink at Territory Lounge (we'd have had more there on other days, but it was always packed). We'd already planned to eat elsewhere for most meals, and it's convenient to take the bus to MK and from there go to Contemporary, GF or the Poly, to MK or to Epcot or take the bus from the MK bus stop to another resort so we didn't find it too limiting.
