Dismayed at DL hotel prices

I know. I wanted to stay onsite. But the prices were just too much to warrant it.

I stayed at a neighbor hotel for a bunch less a night and was perfectly happy.

that's the great thing about DL. there are several hotels just outside the gates and walking is not an issue:woohoo:

I started wanting to stay onsite too, but it just didn't make sense to spend that much on a hotel room. The hotel room is not the focus on the trip. With so many options within walking distance I could not justify the cost. Maybe at WDW it might make a little more sense.

I had a difficult time finding a Good Neighbor hotel that was close to DL and still had rooms available for October 19-22nd! I can't believe that all the hotels are booked already! There must be something else going on besides the Halloween party. I did get reservations at the Howard Johnsons. We've never stayed there, but the reviews on Trip Advisor looked ok.

Looks like I'm going to have to change my date(s), thanks for the heads up.:surfweb:

why dont you stay at a good neighbor?
embassy suites - south for instance!
i stay there every year and it only costs me $132/night
i always go in june though =) good luck

What I find frustrating is that the AP rate is the same as the AAA rate - 10% discount. I think they can do better than 10%.

Maybe I'm just a snob but I don't think $200 is that much. I mean I've stayed in the DLH many times and I love how close it is to everything. Plus the scenery is beautfiul. I've also stayed in the Marriott, which is nice, but it's so far. I don't think I'd pay over $300/night at the DLH though.

Ouch - those prices hurt!!! I remember staying at PP for less than $100 a few years ago - those days are long gone.

I could only wish...you don't want to know what we are paying to stay at the PP this July. We want to swim and really none of the off-site hotels have very good pools, so we are paying a crazy price (my opinion) for the PP. We are also going in October, but since we wont be swimming, we will stay off-site probably at the BWPPI.

I have to say that the PP hotel isn't anything exciting at all-or at least wasn't when I was there four years ago. It's just a rectangle with no shade. Or are you staying there so you can use the DL hotel?

I don't think it means you're a snob, it just might mean you have more money to spend than some of the other folks posting. I know that if I"m paying that kind of money for a hotel, it had better be spectacular-and the DLH hotel, in my opinion, isn't.

No, actually I didn't know you could use the other resort pools if you stay at a different on-property hotel? Can you? Anyway, I know it is just a rectangular pool, but of all the good-neighbor hotels, it has the biggest that I've seen, plus it has that big slide thingy. I know it is a crazy high price to pay for the PP and will probably be kicking myself, but I've never stayed there (have stayed at the DLH and GC before), and have always wanted to try it out. Plus the other DLR hotels were totally out of my price range. Thanks for your input!

Julie

No, you can't. The exception to this rule is if the pool at the PP is closed for any reason.

I second your feelings, Iggipolka. We frequent Disney World and can usually find some reasonable rates to stay on resort property. There was no way I could justify the cost for our trip this summer at DL. I was pretty dismayed to see what room charges are and from what I can see doesn't seem like the same ambience you get at Disney World. We are just looking forward to visiting DL though and have booked a room at the Candy Cane Inn.
