Trip Report Day 2 23rd December 2007 (2nd day in the park)
Had a lie in which was nice and again left the hotel for the park about 7.50am only did Carousel and Flying Elephants this morning as my parents spent so much time taking photos (I kid you not getting from the Disneyland Hotel to the Carousel took an hour because they were constantly stopping for photos and video….) Also had Fantasyland breakfast for 9.30 which was a complete bun fight people were flocking in and with nowhere to sit, the selection was nowhere near as good as what they had at the Seqouia but it hit the spot.
Today though we decided to head for POTC at rope drop and whilst it looked busy when we got there, the line moved fast and my niece despite doing her very best, I don’t think I want to go on this ride… got off the other end going “That was coooooooool” and if you ask her now it was her favourite ride!
Next Caitlin wanted to ride Small World so we headed for Fantasyland deciding to have a looksee whether Belle or the Beast were there… so we snook up to the meeting point and lined up, I went to check and it was the Beast, slightly disappointed, my niece decided she would see the beast and we all thought he looked great so we lined up. The last little person in front of us went in and we waited our turn, then just as she finished I turned round in time to see…Belle coming to do the change over!!!! A very quick heads up to everyone (except my niece) we waited to see her expression when she saw her, we couldn't believe our luck well Belle is her favourite princess and we couldn’t believe the timing of it!!! My niece had a Bell scarf on which Belle made a fuss of saying “it’s me!” and she was lovely very good with my niece and it was absolutely one of those Disney moments that the holiday is all about!! It made my parents cry.
After this we went to my husbands most loathed attraction…It’s a Small World and he went on it with gritted teeth (he says the demonic dolls scare him and he was sitting tight in the boat!) what was funnier is whilst waiting one boat came out and it was empty thus adding fuel to his fire (apparently there were people on it before it went in you know…) and he joked he was going to count the number of people on our boat before and after the ride… bless! Me giggling “chucky wanna play” in his ear all the way round didn’t help matters.
Next we went to Alices Curious Labyrinth, on the way round we took lots of piccies and video then by the caterpillar my niece suddenly got really worried and started saying “You can’t take photos here, we have to stop taking photos!!!!!” and she was really insistent that we weren’t allowed to take photos there.
We all enquired as to why so she showed us the “PHOTO STOP” sign.
How priceless is that! We assured her it was fine, but we were laughing too much to explain it.
Afterwards we had reservations at Café Mickey for 1pm so we headed off to there.
Again I will put my review of here on the thread for it, but I will say although it had better characters than the Lucky Nugget (Saw Pluto, Goofy, Friar Tuck, Robin Hood, Baloo, Rafiki, Smee, Mickey and Minnie) would only go back here if it was for breakfast, it took an hour and twenty minutes from sitting down to getting our bill and we only had a main, the food was pretty rubbish and although the characters were good, 3 characters got to the table before ours then there time was up-try exlaining that to your niece who thinks se is about to meet Baloo as he is on the table before yours then he waves bye and buggers off… This happened several times and the table next to us complained- a character was sent to them promptly but we saw the CM they had complained to fetch the character make the international hand single for someone who has moaned (yak yak yak emu glove puppet style motion complete with mimicy facial blah blah blah expression!) in plain view of us all!!!! Before they sent the character to them. Not impressed, but we had fun with the characters.
Despite loving Belle this moment made her holiday-having Robin Hood kiss her hand was her favourite moment from the whole trip if you ask her....
After this we decided a quick jaunt to the studios and the new Hollywood Boulevard is looking good
We caught the parade as this was less crowded so got a good place. Decided after this as the niece wanted to go on the carpets and cars we would grab a fastpass for the carpets and line up for cars-35 minutes waiting time.
50 minutes later…we got on cars and when that finished we legged it to the carpets with 1 minute to go on the fastpasses…phew.
Cars I thought was fun, faster than it looked clever little concept on a basic kids ride and if your sat in the front seats it looks like you are going to crash I laughed my head off! The carpets I thought were lame but my niece enjoyed them which was the most important thing.
On the way round we were fortunate enough to catch Goofy and the swing along Santas which was loveley!
As the day was getting on we headed back to the Disneyland Park for the Dream parade which this time we stood at the top of Main Street and had a much better position and actually got to smell the floats-what a concept really added to the magic!
(Although again tempers were flaring and a fight broke out next to dad-I mean honestly what is wrong with people????) that asides we enjoyed the parade even more the second time round and after decided to make the usual pilgrimage to Caseys for the hot drinks to recover!!! However the crush on Main Street was crazy, people couldn’t move my husband held Caitlin up as she was frightened and you couldn’t go anywhere, it was really scarey, I pitied everyone with buggies except the woman who pinned my foot with hers when she could clearly see I couldn’t move-my husband got kneed in the back of the leg by someone trying to make him keep walking when he had nowhere to go, my dad got punched in the chest by someone who wanted to get past him when he couldn’t go anywhere either and I was stood there thinking now what as I couldn’t take a step in any direction when a man smacked me on the chest held me at arms length and yelled “attention!!!” he promptly got his hand smacked off my chest and I just looked at him and went “I CANNOT MOVE, LOOK, WHERE THE HELL DO YOU THINK I CAN GO IDIOT!!!!” this bit I am sure he understood….
Finally got to Caseys and needed the drink more than ever, but made a note to watch Fantillusion from as close to the parks exits as possible.
After Caseys we got our places fr Candlebration for the last time (sob) then after the show we went to see the dragon, do some shopping see Sleeping Beautys castle yep that Ravens eyes do glow when you take a flash photo!!!
We then got our places for the Fantillusion we were just saying we hadn’t been on Main Street for the snow at any point during our stay when lo and behold the music started and there it was….perfect!
This year Fantillusion started the opposite end to where it normally starts it began at the top of Main Street which was great because it meant we were one of the first people out the park before the leaving scrum!
We left the park and did some shopping in the village before grabbing a baguette in the New York Sub place-had the rudest server ever, everything I asked for they didn’t have so I looked at the baguettes on the display counter which I guessed was what they had left and asked what they had in them. He shrugged and said they’re baguettes and he was deadly serious (he really loved his job!) my hubby and I couldn’t stp laughing which didn’t add to his mood but he was so rude it was funny! I settled for ham and cheese and left it at that-they were very nice however!
We went back to the hotel and decided a few cocktails in the bar were the order of the day!!
View from my room:
Actually a cocktail for 2…I did share it!
Something to do with Autumn leaves but very tasty
In front of the fire lovely!
Then after a quick jaunt in the hotel shop for some last minute gifts…we went to bed to pack as we sadly had to leave the next day
Boooooooooooooooooo!!!!
