Dislocated Shoulder at Disney?

My 12 year old nephew dislocated his shoulder today during a football game. He is doing great and they took him to the ER and everything went ok. So that is a blessing. However, we leave for Disneyland in a week! It is a huge family reunion and EVERYONE is going so it is not an option to stay home. He is extremely bummed out that he can't ride any of the rides... as are we.

So for the Dis-experts out there.... What rides will he be able to ride in his condition? He can't do any rides that are too rough or that will jostle his shoulder around. So I'm thinking Small World, Pooh, Alice, Peter Pan and all the Fantasy land rides etc... I just want to cheer him up and let him know that he won't be left out.

Thanks for any help!

We'll also be at DCA too...

You could plan a photo scavenger hunt for him to give him something to do while others ride the rougher rides. My daughter always enjoys it.

I feel sorry for him!! I would think he could ride POTC so long as he holds on with one arm during the drops and so long as 2 adults help to embrace him so as not to further damage his arm/shoulder?

Also, The haunted mansion would be o.k. for him, as should Soarin' over California in the other park?

Poor kid! What a horrible time for this to have happened to him. I hope he feels better soon.

My DH has had multiple dislocations of his shoulder over the past 10 years or so, and that alone hasn't stopped him from doing any rides or activies at DL or elsewhere. What he won't do now at any time is snow ski, throwing arms about, soccer, and the like. For the type DH has as long as he keeps his arm below the height of his shoulder he is ok.

DH said he was still having very strong pain killers two-three weeks after the first time, but the chances of it coming out again were no different than any other time.

I would have him talk to the Dr or his physio about it, he may be able to ride most rides, even the rougher ones, but it may be the muscle/tendon/ligament pain that holds him back..
