Dishwashing station?

Okay, Another question for experienced Ft. Wilderness-ites.

I'm assuming that there are dishwashing stations. I pulled my dishpans out of the gear, but if there aren't, I'll add them back. Where are the stations? And how are they set up (i.e. two deep well sinks with counters on either side? Paper towels available? etc).

Thanks again, and I'm sure I'll think of a few other things this week. Leaving Thursday!

Wow, I've never even heard of a dishwashing station, but if they exist I really to know and find them!! I know I've never come across them up here in the northeast. Our last trip to the Fort was some years ago, but I don't remember anything like that. Usually we just wash in a plastic dish pan, then collect the gray water in a bucket and dump at an empty full hook-up site.

Have also camped for many years and never heard of a dishwashing station. We use rubbermaid tubs and dump the grey water appropriately. :thumbsup2

Have seen the stations at State Parks we have gone to but not at FW.

Okay. I'll throw the dishwasher tubs back into the stack. The last few campgrounds I've visited have had them, so I just assumed they'd be at Ft. Wilderness. I guess I'd better take a bigger pot to heat water in too. I was only bringing a small sauce pan. Hmm. Suddenly, cooking at camp sounds like a lot of work!

Yet one more reason why I really really need to move South!!!!! (the list gets longer by the day!). A dishwashing station would be SO cool!

We only moved to FL this past fall. My camping experience has been in the mid-Atlantic/NE primarily. Started camping in IN when we lived there (GREAT state park campgrounds there!), then did LOTS of scout camping in VA, PA, and MD. Generally, the campgrounds that had comfort stations had dishwashing stations. I think they got tired of people washing their dishes in the bathroom sinks!

I was wondering about dishwashing when we were at FW in April. I was VERY annoyed that they don't have hot water at the sinks - it sure would be nice for washing up at night! Then I thought maybe it's because they don't want people washing dishes in the bathrooms.

I did email when we got back and I mentioned the hot water thing. We have hot water in our popup, but couldn't get it working.

Can you take your dish pan and use the hot water at the laundry sink they have?

We're back! I don't know about the laundry tub. I didn't actually go into the laundry room.

We ended up in loop 800, which was a full hook up site, so we had a drain right at our campsite.

The campground was very nice, but I learned a valuable lesson about camping in FL. Even when the weather looks clear as a bell, CLOSE up the screens!!! Friday, we cooked lunch at camp, and decided to head over to EPCOT for the evening. It was pretty hot and sticky, so I opened up all the screens so it would be cool enough to sleep. Just after we got to EPCOT, the skies opened up! Luckily, the power strip stayed dry, and I was able to salvage enough bedding to make it through another night. But I'll never do that again!!!!
