We just bought a Bosch dishwasher (11 year old dishwasher finally died) and I've been very happy with it.

My only complaint is the way the prongs are curved on the racks. Our dishes don't fit very well. Oh well...the dishwasher will outlast our dishes. :cutie:

Just don't forget to factor in the cost of installation and taxes into your budget. I'd call around to stores to see the delivery/installation costs first.

I second the Bosch recommendation - they're great! We had one at our old house and sorely miss it! Super high rating at consumer's report -

I am debating between a Kenmore Elite or a Whirlpool. Im afraid to pick the wrong one. Help!!!!

I just bought a new dishwasher...It's too soon to tell if it will last...It seems like nothing lasts like it used to anymore! I researched the brands extensively and got a lot of conflicting opinions...so who knows...I chose a Kitchenaid mostly because the handle matched my Kitchenaid oven. However, it was priced out of my budget. I searched around and found a floor model at Best Buy and bought that it was about $200 under reg. price so it just came in under the budget.

They wanted $120 to deliver and install! I said no way! We carted it home in our SUV and DH got to install it. He never did one before but is pretty handy and it worked when he got it in there (truthfully, it was quite a pain to install but we're cheap!)

Whirlpool makes Kenmore and Maytag so I wouldn't rely on any of the "names" find one with features and the price that fits your lifestyle..or maybe just a pretty handle, LOL:rotfl:

I love my Whirpool, but my gid recommendation is to take a dish with you to the store and make sure it fits. My sister didn't find out her dishes didn't fit well into the dishwasher until after it was installed.

We have a very, very basic Fridgidare, and I love it. It is very quiet... and it cleans very well, even the nastiest stuff, on light wash. My only gripe is that it runs for about two hours.

Whirlpool makes Kenmore for them. I bought a Kenmore tall tub stainless steel tub nearly a year ago and it has been very good. No problems so far and it is quiet and cleans very well. It also has the adjustable upper rack but I leave it in one place all the time.

I will third it.. we got a great deal on a Bosch at a Sears outlet.

My only reservation with Bosch is the lack of heated dry option. For those that have one are you dishes still wet when the the dishes are done???
Thanks

We have had a Bosch for the last 5 years. It is really quiet compared to our old Whirlpool and it has a double walled design which can save your flooring if the inner part ever leaks. We got ours at a Lowe's ... we avoid Sears like the plague after the delivery run around we got!

Thanks everyone....bought me a Kitchen aid. Hope its a good one. Im sorry about yours Misty but maybe you got a lemon?? Kitchen aid gets great reviews. Or at least this particular model I got does. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
