Hi Guys,

When staying at accommodation that has a dishwasher we would normally go to Walmart and buy a box of dishwasher tablets and then we leave a lot that we did not use, which seems a waste.

But now we have a dishwasher at home and we were thinking about taking some from home, instead of buying them in Orlando.

What do you normally do and can you bring them from the UK?

You can definitely bring them with you as that's what we do with washing powder tablets, such as Persil.
However, must admit what we usually do with the dishwasher is just put a little washing up liquid in, which we generally always buy in for the villa stay.

I always thought you could not use washing up liquid in a dishwasher... although I maybe invented that in my head :confused3

Dunno mate, never had a problem and besides it's not our dishwasher (insert shocked smiley of real concern here) :)

It isn't something we would do at home, maybe need to take some with us in the future.
Problem is , well not necessarily about cost, but you buy a box out there for $10 or so and use about 6 of them if that, can't imagine why we would want to bring them home with us if we could find room.

What tends, in my opinion, to happen is the maid snaps up whatever any renters leave behind at villa's, one of the perks of the job I suppose.
So it's very rare there is anything in the home when you get there, so it's a fine line between buying what you need or don't need, or put another way what you feel is safe to 'bung in someone's dishwasher. ;)

No owner has yet complained to us, so hope we are in the clear.

I always take tablets from home, take one for each night we are staying! I also take bold 2 in 1 to save pennies!!

I usually take a few with me too, we only use it every couple of days.
Some places you stay they have a few packets already there for you to use (usually in a sachet, powder type stuff) I usually use half so it last longer.

We took some the year we had a villa holiday. We always take laundry tablets too due to DS eczema.

and emphasis on little - I have done this at home when I ran out of tablets and I nearly flooded the kitchen with bubbles:rotfl2:
