Dishwasher deals

We recently bought one at a Sears Scratch and Dent store. The handle was not attached. They people refused it because there was no screws for it. I bought the screws for 75 cents each at a local Ace. It was a $1600 dishwasher and we got it for $450. We were told if we couldn't get the handle attached we could return it for a full discount. It is so quiet and works great.

Sorry for your troubles!! We purchased a new dishwasher a couple of months ago. Priced it out from Best Buy who had a deal where it was free installation (after rebate) for any dishwasher purchase, so maybe ask about those specials. They also deliver free and have free haul away of the old appliance, where we live at least. We ended up buying a Bosch from Lowe's. LOVE the dishwasher, HATE the racks, but definitely getting more used to their crappy design of the racks.

Thanks, others have mentioned that Bosch is awesome, but it sounds like it's out of my price range right now. I'll put it on the wish list : )

Were you able to turn the one circuit breaker off so you can use the rest of your house electronics?

When it comes time for a new washer you should only need the following:

1) Purchase a washer
2) Pay to have it delivered/installed and have the old one taken away.

There should not be a need for an electrician etc...

One thing we do to keep down on the dishes is that everyone has their own glass. They are all different (in our case different color). That way we never have more glasses out then we have people living in the house. And everyone is responsible for washing their own glass. And if they forget they need to wash it again before they use it. Guest can grab a glass out of the cupboard of course...

Well, I've got good news and bad news about the breakers. The good news is we were able to figure out which breakers power the laundry room and I'm doing laundry right now (yay!). The bad news is that none of the breakers caused the dishwasher to turn on. So until I get an electrician here to look at the wire, I'll have to flip the breakers on when I want to use them and then flip them back off when I'm done. I don't trust the breakers right now because I'm worried that my husband might have piggy-backed the dishwasher onto a breaker that was already in use, even though it's an appliance and should rightly have it's own breaker. He didn't always do things by the book.

Part of the reason I'm not sure about the breakers is that my teenager was being a butt tonight, I can't wait until he grows into all that testosterone. I love him dearly but, man, he's annoying sometimes. He did help me, but instead of focusing on helping me with the breakers he decided to multi-task and pick on his sister. At church on Sunday a friend offered to help me so I'm going to invite her over for lunch and to try out the breakers again. I think it's a job for grown ups. Every single breaker was switched on when I went down to the basement to shut them off during the fire, but now I can't for the life of me figure out what three of them do, they don't seem to be attached to anything. Just to be on the safe side, if my friend and I still can't figure out which breaker powers the dishwasher I think it's best to have an electrician disconnect and cap off the wire for the time being, until I can replace the dishwasher.
