My contract is up with Dish ThIS month. I am thinking of canceling them because I hate, hate, HATE them.

Question is I recorded a lot of cooking shows on my DVR and transferred then to a hard drive connected to my TV. If I cancel Dish what happens to those programs? Will I still be able to watch them?

Thanks!

Lisa

Just unplug the dish cable from your receiver and see if you can access the DVR. You probably can still watch from the DVR.

Why do you hate DISH -- I've been with them for a decade and I have found their customer service to be excellent.:thumbsup2

I switched from Dish to DirectTV 2 years ago, and at that time, anything recorded on a Dish DVR or external hard drive connected to the DVR was encrypted, so you could transfer them digitally to any other device--well you might be able to transfer, just not watch them on any other device. Things may have changed since then, but I doubt it.

I have a DVD recorder that I use to record off the signal coming from the DVR, sort of like a VCR. I lose quality, and it won't record in HD, but most of what I want to keep I am not really worried about high quality picture.
