Hello all! Boy, has this week been busy! On top of working this week, I had to go grocery shopping Monday night to prepare for company. Tuesday we had a picnic at the park for our town's 4th celebration... They have the symphony playing, activites and game for the kids, and fireworks. Then Wed I had to clean my house, and we had 20 people over for a cookout and fireworks. (The advantage of driving to Florida is we get to top in South Carolina and buy the big fireworks!) Thurs my sister's kids came over to play before going home, plus my kids and the ones I keep... there were 13 kids in my house! :scared1: So now I am trying to catch up on posts! I'll get to the TR boards tomorrow... I hope!

As for the blisters... I took my Athens, which I wore all week. Very comfy for walking, but hurt when I was standing or sitting, so I rode many things barefoot! :rolleyes1 I did get blisters about 1/2 through the week, but they were on the top of my feet where the straps rub. Also, by the end of the trip, the bottom of my toes were really sensitive from th bumps in the insoles. My kids were crocs the whole week and had no problems... although Avery was quick to tell us that her dogs were barking! Wynn wore Tevas, but they made his feet tired... no cushioning. He switched back to sneakers and was much happier.

Glad you're back Kari!

LizA--- Easiest way--- Just copy/paste the link and add it in your signature when you go to edit your signature.... DM can give you the nitty gritty about doing it all fancy and stuff though... But for now, we just need the link.

I had to post this for you guys. My dad is retired and will build stuff for people for gifts if we ask him or something for us. My sister works in the OB department at the hospital, well one of the girls she works with is having a baby and he is building this for my sister to give as a gift.

Sorry my sister has claimed him all summer to keep him busy. Which he needs to be. I'll actually once I can straighten up the mess I call my makeup stand I'll post pictures of it.

So anyone else feeling like it was years ago since your trip instead of just last week?:sad1:

I've actually been home 2 weeks now... and yes, it feels like a year! I keep trying to start planning my next summer's vacation, but am meeting with a lot of resistance from Wynn over the money. Guess I'll have to plan and save on the sly for awhile! ;) We have a few bills hanging over our heads that I need to knock out before I broach the subject again. And while I'm doing that, I'll save up the deposit ($1000 for the cruise :scared: ) and get the trip scheduled. Maybe it will be his Christmas present... :rolleyes1

Sneaky! ;) I love it!

I am still on a high from our trip. I'm still writing my TR and it is slow going. My sister has moved in and its crazy. We're also catching up on all things Harry Potter and Michael has a doctor appointment in St. Louis this week that will take all week as I am driving down to pick up my MIL to help with Danae while we go even farther south. Fun!

Anyways, we are already talking about our next trip. We really want to do another trip for Danae's bday but we would love to also go again during this time when they are so in awe of the characters. How long does that last?

We also have fiddled with the idea of going to Orlando in 2010 for HP! This is nuts since this trip was our first trip ever as a family!

Mandy, that is beautiful! I'd love some help over here too. Where do you guys all live?

Live in TN, Wendy.

I would send him there but we're weary of letting him travel alone for reasons.

Yes it does feel like it's been a while since we went on vacation but I'm planning next year's. We're looking at around June 13-20th something.

Right now I'm working on getting my sister to do CMA Fest with me.

Last summer was our first "real" vacation as a family. Until then, we always did long weekends and such. Now I am spoiled, and want the big vacation every year! As for the characters... Avery will be 5 in Oct, and still believes in the characters. The "face" characters such as the princesses are 100% real. The costume characters such as Pooh, Tigger, and Mickey she still loves and believes in, but also talks about them being Halloween costumes. I think she believes on different levels, and has not quite reasoned it all out yet. Tucker turned 9 in May, and still loves the characters. He doesn't believe, and is a little shy about hugging them and such, but still loves meeting them. We searched out quite a few on his request!

Good luck with Michael's Dr appt. I was really sad to hear the Drs cancelled his surgery. Keep searching... every time I hear stories such as that, it seems to be a blessing in disguise as it will lead you further up the ladder of specialist. I'll be praying for you all. Please post or PM me when you get home. I am planning to get over to your TR in the next day or so, and see how everything went. I love the pic in your siggie!

So will it be a Disney cruise?

So anyone else feeling like it was years ago since your trip instead of just last week?:sad1:

Yes and no. Because life gets so busy now around here, it feels like we never left. Other times it feels like we just got home.

No Disney for us next yr,but a Cruise(not DIsney)Aug 2008.

We are talking about going to the mountains in the Fall. We live in Va Beach,so its all flat lands here;) but drive 3-4hrs west and we can see some beautiful mountains.

I am 90% sure it will be a cruise. Disney is my first choice because they have so much that appeals to my kids. But, if I can't swing the $$ then I will go with another cruise line. We can do a verandah on RCCL for about the same as an inside room on Disney, so I am keeping that in mind. We are looking at Oct 2008, so I am not in any real hurry to make any decisions.

We love to go to the mountains. We have friends in NC mountains in Jefferson, about 30 minutes from Galax, Va. Unfortuneately we have been so busy lately that we have trouble finding the time to go up there.

OK WendyGrace... just read Mick's version of your special MK day, and am bawling! I can't believe how special they made the day for Michael! The time with Peter was special, but the little things as well. Driving the boat on Jungle Cruise... how cool is that! I will read further in a bit!

I can't believe vacation is here and gone. :sad1: I'm still not "back to normal" around the house, but that's because I'm always doing SOMETHING! I have no clue what it's like to be "bored"! Today starts a week workshop for Dana at her new high school - just 1/2 days, so I'll run her up there, then stop back at my school and finish up with inventory, etc, and hand in my keys. No more working for me! :cool1: (except I DID agree to give a workshop in October! hard to say NO to a NUN! :lmao: )

We do have a four nights down the shore (in NJ you go "down the shore", not "to the beach" :rotfl: ) in August, so I'm looking forward to that.. as for next year, we are toying with the idea of "Atlantis" in the Bahamas or Bermuda, or back to Disney. The European trips - either Disney Adventures or the Disney Cruise - are still high on Dana's "OH PLEASE" list, but I'm not ready to go "overseas" just yet. (and "bus tours" just don't sit well with me!! But I know that's the best way to see some of those sights. I may send Bob & Dana in a few years!)

Mandy: your dad is VERY talented! How special to have a HANDMADE piece!!

WendyGrace: I must get to your TR!!

Kari: Keep saving - if you do the Disney Cruise, you must get that verandah!;)

I am planning to do the verandah if at all possible... but inside will be better than nothing! We really are not "in the room" type people, so if we don't get the verandah, it won't be the end of the world for me. But still... that is what I am shooting for. My kids saw Atlantis on the Travel Channel the other day, and were begging to go. To quote Aerosmith... "DREAM ON!" I do want to do an all-inclusive at some point, but will go to the western Caribbean or Mexico when I go, and probably to a Beaches resort. I will use my cruise to scout out a location! I have very little interest in going to Europe... has never appealed to me. And the countries that do appeal are so far down on my list of vacations I want to take!

We are really not in the room type people either. We have been on two cruises, and both had inside rooms. I know its hard for people to understand that if you are a one income family, you do what you have to do vacation, but cheaply as possible;) Last year we went on a cruise with my sister in law and brother in law. We got an inside, they got a balcony. In all honesty it is a beautiful view, BUT... was getting a little "dizzy" looking out the window:confused3 I dont get sea sick, but for some reason looking out the window made me want to sit down.. You really cant beat the view? My favorite thing on a cruise is getting up early and walking up to one of the decks and watching the ship as it gets closer to one of the islands. I cant explain it, its just so peaceful.
We are doing a cruise AUG 2008 and we are getting 2 inside rooms(Connecting)cheaper then a suite;) Well at least on RCCL 2 insides are cheaper, dont know about the other cruise lines.

What I have is a seperate ING account set up just to save for our annual vacations. All survey money & Ebay sales go into it. When Christmas comes along I also add my bonus. Then I make a reservation & pay off 1 night. Every week after that I call Disney to make a payment. I've even called once & added $13.50 from my Disney Rewards. By the time the vacation comes the room is always paid off. The next trip will be easier as were going to use 2 years of points & we bought AP's for all of us so it's just airfare & food.:cool1:

DH & I have taken a cruise to Bermuda 2X out of NY. It's so easy from here.

If I can not convince DH to go to Disney in 2009, RCCL is 2nd on the list.:thumbsup2
