DIS'ers escaping Mardi Gras

Hi grumpymomof3. No, they go to Catholic school and we don't get Wed. off. Must be some kind of inservice day for you guys. We only get Mon. & Tues.

Neat to see that so many people from this area are going. Hopefully it was just a fluke that it was busy during Mardi Gras when the previous poster's friend was there. We also just realized it's Super Bowl weekend which didn't make DH too happy. But he's decided on Sunday, he'll go to the hotel early to watch the game. :D

Wish i was going :charac2: but i got a few 100# of crawfish to cook and 75 gallons of gator gumbo to make and thats just for Lundi gras

I really wouldn't worry too much about the crowds. This will be my 5th trip at Mardi Gras and I have never had any trouble. Just remember to bring beads. The cast members love them. :cool1:

Hey ELLIEMAE1192, my kids go to St. Dominic's, which school do yours go to?

Pack it all up and come to WDW! WE could have a crawfish boil on Main Street!

WE'll be there from Feb. 6 - 12. I know several others from around here that will be there too!

That sounds like a good idea! :scratchin I think for Mardi Gras I will have the families over for a crawfish boil. yummy!! ::yes::

PS All the people flying out of New Orleans for Mardi Gras on Southwest, watch your flight - you will notice that mostly everyone on the flight is going to the same place to escape Mardi Gras. On the flight we had a blast, we all sang songs about the Mouse and even had the workers of Southwest joining in on the fun

Well anyway, have a blast, wish I was goining

We will there on Feb 5 -12. Camping at Fort Wilderness. Anyone else camping from Louisiana?? The crawfish boil sounds great!! Do yall think Magic Kingdom will be crowded Sunday because of the Superbowl?

We'll be there 2/3-2/6. Do they do anything special for Mardi Gras at the parks/ DTD?

Mardi Gras at the BCV, Feb 5-12. There will be 6 of us with another 4 staying until Wednesday, then another 4 staying Tu - Sat at AKL.

Lulu, how about if we move the Crawfish boil to Epcot. At least I can have a beer to wash em down!

The crawfish boil sounds great, but I don't think those Disney Folks would appreciate the smell of the peelings the next day :rotfl: My DH would really like that, since that is what we usually do for Mardi Gras anyway. We'll be at WL sporting our Mardi Gras T-Shirts on Fat Tuesday. Has anyone heard if there is going to be a celebration at DTD for Mardi Gras? I checked Disney's website, but nothing. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

P.S. I am really starting to look like this pink bouncing ball, I am so excited. :Pinkbounc

No way! Mine too! So funny. I have a third grader there in Ms. Smith's class. Also have a ninth grader at McGill-Toolen who graduated from Dominic last year and a 2.5 year old that will be there in a couple of years. :D What grade do you have?

Edited to read: Sorry, just realized I probably should have replied in a pm. I'm kindof new here.

Another one here taking advantage of the long weekend. We'll be at the BC from 2/4 to 2/7 (MY birthday!!) and then at the CR from 2/7 to 2/12.

No wonder we had such a tough time getting good airfare... Everyone's hauling it out of here that weekend. Did ya'll see that flights are booked SOLID that weekend on Southwest??

Is anyone else going to Pleasure Island for Fat Tuesday night? We have never been to PI and since it looks like they will have some extra activities, we are thinking about putting the kids in a kids club and going out. I can't wait to get to the House of Mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Yep. That's why we're driving (unfortunately). It might work out okay, because after a few days of "Disney" food, it's nice to go to a Chili's or something. We were thinking about going to PI for Fat Tuesday. You can bring the kids. They are allowed in most of the night clubs as long as you are with them. We have my parents with us, so we may bring them for a little while to see some of the entertainment and then send them back to the WL with grandma and grandpa. If you don't have the kids, you have to go to Manequin's. It is hillarious watching the drunks try to get off that dance floor. :jumping2:

Can't wait. We are getting closer. Mobile had their first parade on Friday Night.

I can't believe how cold it is in Orlando. Tonight, wind chill of 20 degrees. Looks like it will be alittle warmer when we are down though. :cool1:

Have scheduled next Sunday as packing day. Can you tell that I am getting excited.

Just got back from the bus stop this morning.it's 27 degreessss down here. :earseek: I sure hope the weather gets better in Orlando.Don't won't to pack sweatshirts.Going to wait and get the 10 day forcast for Orlando before i pack. :jester: I think i'm more excited then my kids are. :Pinkbounc

Escaping Mardi Gras, also. I work in the downtown area, as much as I love it, after a few days the merriment, not to mention smell gets old, and don't get me started on the traffic. Staying at ASMo the 5th - 10th.

Brandi

I know. I'm in Louisiana and it was 30 degrees here this morning. I bought shorts yesterday. I sure hope I need them in DW and not coats.
