Having never been on a cruise before, I'm curious as to how this will work. I understand that there are separate customs areas for US citizens and non-US citizens.

I'm Canadian, my fiance is American. We'll be on DCL for our honeymoon next year. What happens with married couples with different citizenships?

Hi Amberle3

As a Canadian citizen you will have to clear through Immigrations at approx 6am on the morning of debarkation.

You will have to report to the required room usually Wavebands/Rockin' Bar D, there you will have your passport returned to you and you will have to talk to an immigrations officer. He/she will ask you when you plan on leaving the US and look at and probably stamp your passport and send you on your way.

Your husband will be still peacefully sleeping in your cabin while you do this;)

You turn in your customs forms when you leave the ship and go through the terminal, where you pick up any luggage you might have waiting for you. It is only one form per family, so you and your husband would only have to hand in one form.

Hope this helps, if you have more questions let me know.

6am huh? Good thing I'm a morning person!

So after I've cleared customs, am I free to still roam about the ship, go back to the room for hubby, have breakfast etc? I'm used to airports where once you've cleared customs that's it baby, don't even think about looking back!

When you check in you will all need to check at the non-american citizen check in. They will check in your entire family there. If you can on the Eastern, you also all need to clear customs in St. Thomas, and they do have different locations, but you can all go together to the non-citizen custom.
It was very easy, just very early in the morning....
