I wear contact lenses, and can't see too much without them! We're going to DC next month (can't wait!), and I wondered if anyone could tell me whether you're allowed to wear goggles or ordinary glasses when you swim with the dolphins? What I'm really hoping is that there won't be too much splashing, and it'll be OK to wear my lenses! How likely is this, especially when you're being towed by the dolphin? Can anyone help me out here, please?

Hi Sue - you should be fine wearing your lenses You are given a mask in your kit which they actually encouraged us to put on although mine stayed on the top of my head throughout the encounter beause my face never went underneath the water. You could wear yours over your eyes as a precaution - I doubt they would let you wear glasses as they do not allow anything that could be potentially hazardous to the dolphins.... can people who wear specs verify that?

My DH wears contacts and he wore them throughout the day - although he didn't take part in the encounter, he used the eyemask for whilst he was snorkelling and didn't have any problems.

Shirley you are right in saying that they wont let you wear specs,my DS had to take his off,he cant really see much without his.

It seems they have prescription masks available now. While it should be ok to wear lenses without any trouble, the slim chance of the mask filling with water and the lenses floating away ( with all the aggrevation that would cause) may make the prescription mask the easier/safer option.

Thanks for these replies. I didn't think they'd allow glasses. I had bought some prescription goggles just in case there was likely to be lots of splashing, but didn't think looking like Kermit-the-Frog was a good idea for the photos!! Will try with just my lenses, and take some spares with me just in case they get splashed out!
